i'll warn you, adding each log is not the most efficient thing in the world, it takes about 2-3 minutes for a 100kb log file, but then again my server is only a dual p2-350 system. the user pages are very efficient, even on my server. the updates are not automatic....yet. to update it, all you need to do is go to a link to one of the php files that would be included in the package, and then the server does the rest. i need to create another php page that creates all the right tables and everything... i have spent 45 hours out of the past 4 days making this site, so gimme a week or two to rest before tackling an installation for it...any more demand?

edit: now that i think about it, that is a lot of work.... would anyone want it if i gave them essentially a copy of my site and some explanations of how it works?

now that i am a senior and dont have too much to worry about, i can work on the site some more. I will be adding each player's captures and some other related top 10 things. This will take a bit of work because it requires using the other set of logs, basically needing a separate update script. I am not going to be making a release of this because i realized that it is horribly joined at the hip with my site and server. Sorry:-/

as for those of you wondering how it works, here is the gist of it:
after i take the server down, i visit a link on my site that goes to a 10 page php script that goes through the new kill logs line by line. by subtracting one from the total number of lines (to account for the opening timestamp) and then using the modulus operator (%), the remainder of that tells me what each line is. If it is line 5, then the modulus will return 1, telling me that it is a killer's name. if the modulus returns: 0= date, 1=killer name, 2 = victim name, 3=weapon name. then it goes through a ton of conditionals which add the informatino to the stats databases, one for player stats, one for weapon stats. the site itself is a bunch of php pages that query the database as required. All of the pages are generated on request, so the information is always accurate.

about visual basic, i was going to use that to trigger the updates automatically, and i still might though i havent had the time to learn the additional VB code needed to interact with the SQL database. if anyone knows that much about VB, please IM me. my contact info is on my site at http://ultimate13.dynu.com:6080/

once again, I apologize for not being able to release this. If someone is very php and SQL savvy and would like to make my site's source into a standardized release contact me and maybe we can work something out.

edit: yes, all i used was notepad. no Zend, no dreamweaver, no premade scripts or anything. i pity all you un-originals out there who download some premade site like a forum, put it on some host with your name and some custom titles here and there, then call it your own. learn something and be original
