OMFG DUDE, I WAS JUST ABOUT TO SUGGEST THIS.. IM NOT KIDDING!!! I just came online to post this same suggestion... Please guys dont answer saying this game isn't Counter Strike.. This would be useful no matter the circumstances!!! It would give me more space to post good news items, like.. ermmm.. server admins and rules, and links to server stats! Or at least make the SERVER MESSAGE and player Text carry onto the next line, instead of run off the screen :D

It's the "Message of the day".
IRC servers have them, too.. contact informations, updates, rules etc.

wow, one suggestion that doesn't get blasted to hell...I do like it, as long as it just didn't get annoying, great idea though.

Wow, iz true. But I know what you mean about getting annoying...I thinkhaving it pop up after every map change would get annoying so disabling that would be a wise idea...

lol, don't make it an option. At this rate, every suggestion will become an option, there will be three pages of options menu in the game and Soldat will be the most customisable game ever...

Well, all the welcome message would have to be is a text file (motd.txt or something) and just change that to what you want as a welcome message. Yes, I know this is just copying Half Life/Counter Strike/Monkey Strike (w00t!) but it would be a decent idea. No more motd scrolling off screen for me :D

Oh just more bytes to be sent over the network... But I'm planning to make a console in the next version, so this idea would fit to it. Maybe I'll do it.
