the problem is that a linux server somehow crushes after while. For somebody it crushes after 10min, for somebody after week.
Ppl cant join your server when its crushed (when he selects team it doesnt do anthing, stuck in free camera mode), and the server stays in the lobby, but it isnt updating player numbers/maps/etc..

I hope itll be fixed soon. There would be bunch of new servers

Its still there, we have the same prob with our soldat servers. Solution? We set up 1 more server and made it reset automatically once a day. It works for now anyways.

well if you could share this script for other ppl...

Heh I wish I could, its a simple thing really, but its not mine to give, nor do I have it myself. Although I admin the servers, I dont have server acess, im just a little old remote admin.

Something easy would be to have the server auto-start when your computer starts and have a scheduling proggy reset your computer once a day.

well you would just need a little .bat program which closes & restarts the server and then put it to timed tasks.. I may could make it for WINDOWS but dunno nuthing about linux so..

Mole Incarnate: Can you please ask if you can distribute this script? It would be very helpful for the admins out there [:)]. If you are allowed to post it, put it here.

Hello, I have been testing a few things.

Notes on version 2.11:
Added additional server start parameters:
./soldatserver password port maxplayers
example: ./soldatserver topsecret 23073 16

Using that seems to help some.

I know what he means, we have our own server, but it has been paid for, we can reset it automaticly and stuff but only trough a webpage and so on

as far as I observed the crash usually happens when someone joins with a weird nickname (containing unsuported chars) but there could be more... I think this server issue is no1 priority as it would massivly increase online players... where is michal anyway?

Michal is busy making Soldat 1.2.1/1.3 (I dunno what the version number will be). I don't think the stability of the Linux server is priority to him at the moment.
