Ok everyone; My Soldat demoplayer is ready to do it's job.
Without further ado you can download it here:

Download
[URL]

Installation
You will need the JRE v1.4+ (JavaRuntimeEnvironment)
If you do not allready have it, you can get it here:
[URL]

Read the readme.txt included in the zipfile :)

Feature overview
» Intuitive interface
» Play demos by doubleclicking them in Windows Explorer
» None-intrusive; Your original soldat.ini remains unmodified; Effectively this means after playing a demo you will have the same soldat.ini as before playing a demo. You will still be able to configure settings in SDP which will only take effect during demo playback -like fullscreen- !
» List demos from multiple folders; Recursively if you want to.
» Sort demos by name or date, ascending or descending
» Multilangual; Supports 8 languages allready!; Adding a new language is easy
» Styleable; Pick the 'Look & Feel' you like best
» Configurable tab placement
» Load/Save/Autosave SDP configuration
» Rename demos (rightmouse click them)
» Delete unwanted demos
» Multiple instance protection; Only one instance can be run at a time (from the same location)
» Help file! :)

Tips: Did you know ...
» you can edit spd.ini to have SDP popup after having played a demo by clicking a demo in Windows Explorer?
» you can register Soldat demos to SDP in Windows Explorer so doubleclicking a demo directly plays the demo?
» you can easily switch column order by dragging the columnheader with your mouse?
» you can sort each column by clicking the columnheader with your left mousebutton?
» you can play a demo by doubleclicking the demo in the list with your left mousebutton?
» you can rename a demo by clicking the demo in the list with your right mousebutton?
» you don't have to append the demo extension while renaming a demo
» you can edit spd.ini to introduce suggestive demo renaming format?
» you can edit spd.ini to configure the speed slider?
» you can edit spd.ini to configure demo deletion confirmation?
» you can delete multiple demos at once by selecting multiple demos while holding your leftmouse button, or press CTRL+A to select all demos in the list?

Read more in helpfile :)

Nice work. Not much new in it though. Im currently using Diamond Demo Player which i think is great. Your program is good but its just like DDplayer with a few addons. A small annoying thing is that i use speed 250 sometimes which isnt possible in your program. But still its nice work, no doubt!

I've been so free to rid the program of the 200 speedlimit :) -so to speak-

The archive (download link above) has been updated allready and now you can set the speedMinimum and speedMaximum yourself in the sdp.ini file which is generated after first run or saving the config.

Enjoy.

Ps:
With the latest JRE theres a new LookAndFeel called Windows Classic; Selecting this LAF however, allthough it should be of no problem at all, made the program go berserk; I've allready updated the program (download) and will look into this;

On a brighter note; With the latest JRE the Metal style looks like this:

Not too bad! :)

Uhh... how can I translate it? I could make Finnish in there...

Kekezam
February 27, 2005, 12:08 pm
You can find a language template in in the zip when you download the program, or you can look at a language template right here.

Stuff behind the = sign needs translating

------------
For example:

delete_tooltip = Delete currently selected demo

The part that should be translated is in red.
:)
------------

That's the way it works.
Thanks for offering to do the finnish translation!

I still need these languages translated as well:

- Spanish
- Svensk
- Norsk

Anyone? :)
Your name will be in the credits section!

it IS a text file really, it just does not have .txt behind it (normally)
when you have translated it; you can just send it to me and ill add it to the package :)

to get an answer which can help you, you must be more concrete then just stating that nothing happens when you click the play button;

for example: assuming the program starts and you have installed JRE v1.4+,
- have you 'told' SDP where Soldat.exe is located?
- have you selected a demo to play? :-]

Works for me?
Remove your 'old' version
Download and unzip contents of new zip in your (empty) SDP folder.
Try again?

what version of JavaRuntimeEnvironment are you using?
i have just tested and all language files work from version .22

to add a language file you have to do nothing more than just copy them into your SDP directory, and start SDP

at this moment i have no idea why it should not work at your pc

im flattered with having you downloaded the latest version of the JRE to run my program;

at this moment SDP does not work properly on win98 because of using some 'nt-dialect' commands so to say;
however: hereby i offer you the possibility to contact me (through msn/privatemsgsforum/irc) to get SDP compatible with win98 as well; if you feel like doing that that is
it should be not much of a hassle

if you do not feel like that i wish you good luck upgrading (your OS, isnt it about time really?); no offense intended ;-)

ps. has anyone ever written a longpage post like this one above and then tried to submit it to find out you are not logged in and all of your hard typing work is gone? i have :D
