Damn you Night Cabbage! :)
I like water... I happen to drink it when im thirsty... :/ as odd as that might be! But really, King Michal, try your best to make some water effects. Just give your first draft to Z beta testers and will tell you what we think, or whatever you want :/. Yes water would be amazing for 1.2.1/1.2.2

Yeah.

Maybe for Soldat 1.3. Theres more important stuff first, like multi layers of objects.

thats the greatest thing ive ever seen!!! thats awsome!! btw: water would prolly make it lag nasty and promote campers to find bugs in waterfalls and pick blue clothes. visually kewl, but not in gameplay

It would be so kewl if a grenade lands in the water & there's this huge wall of water that goes up.
But water will lag the game up like hell.
so only qualify really fast dedicated servers with water effects & really big good maps that would make a normal running with more than 20 players crash.
A map that allows vehicles or just a Humvee or Black Hawk, maybe even small naval ships.

Ahh... No... There is absolutly NO! <-- Read) No downside to water, it would be so very simple. Omfg... How can you think it will produce lag :/. There are other ways than making pixel size objects and making em move round... I could simply be like any other games water... I like Edifices, its nice... When you go under... The screen darkens and fogs slightly. Etc Etc... It... Would... Be... Too... Ezy

Yeah, it would be a special type of poly or something, which would make the soldats swim when they go under it, and drown if they stay in too long, etc.

I say no to water with particle effects.
Splashing water, rain -> rising water level, waves, waterfalls.
It should be a simple polygon. You put it between normal polygons (the shore :P) and when you walk into it you start walking a bit slowlier. If you're in the water with your torso or whatever you lay on your stomach and start swimming :)
You could use the cursor buttons for getting up/down to the surface/ground and swimming to the sides.
It would just be another type of polygon.. you could still choose the color but they would automatically be transparent and the texture could be a special one, extra for water.
Bullets slow down if they are shot from/into the water (or maybe you can't shoot while in the water? Realistic mode?). If a player jumps into it (with prone or something ^^) it would make a splash sound or maybe some kinda lag-free particle effect :)
That's my version.. and I think it's not impossible.

it wouldn't even look like water if it didn't move
