Yeah, rejected. I'm wording things badly tomorrow.

Soldat isn't like every single other platform shooter. That's what makes it special. That and the magic flying pixies.

the terrain should be deformable only in certain areas and you should be able to set which parts in the editor.

I dont think it would ever work to the extent of liero, but a crater here or there (only on certain terrain) And some collapsing pieces could be cool (think Out of This World/ another world)

Destructable terrain is not a good idea.. What 'bout those 30 mins games? There would be nothing left.. You'd have to be using your jetpack all the time.. Not a good idea at all.. And it'd be even worse for Deathmatch games...

OMG just read through and came up with the solution...

It suits people who want destructable scenery, and those who don't. It also addresses the problem about running out of scenery to destroy...

Make this an extra element to SURVIVAL MODE! When the round ends, everyone respawns, and so does scenery. People who don't want destructable scenery won't suffer too much, because most people don't play survival. Plus, this would definitely boost popularity for survival.

When I read this I wasn't very thrown by the idea of destroying the bunker in 'Bunker', because it would make the map lame until someone wins. However, having it in survival takes my fancy..I don't play the game mode much, so I wouldn't lose out if I didn't like it, and I'm sure that this applies to others too.

Michal: If you made it so when you selected to make a scenery a checkbox came up in the map maker that said 'destroyable', and then you laid the scenery down, it would act as a collision box for both blocking bullets and being destructable, and so it would work..

I say no it, after a while the whole map would be trashed what wou;d happen in ctf? would the flag spawn in mid air or would it spawn in a deep hole it would be pretty bad, would be funny if u could get diggers tho and dig a way into their base :P

All the issues related to the fear that the map becomes unplayable when altered by explosion can be solved with the map being cleverly designed with some surfaces really soft (like dirt), some harder (like gravel / soild) and some unbreakable. Anyway it's going to be a though one integrating all that surface-alteration extravaganza to the engine because of the way the polygons overlaps! The overlapping polygons makes it easy to design custom maps, but that method may lead to messy geometry that's impossible to alter logically.[:-glasses]
...Maybe if it was some kind of alpha texturing trick...
Or implement a new map editor / format that generates proper geometry with linked points suitable for subdivision and displacement.

ever thought of DECALS like in an fps?

hmm, no real decals (because there are no textures to put them onto), but explosions for example could darken the terrain like they burned the earth.

The scenery could darken as explosions occurs nearby. I doubt this would add enjoyment to the game though.

I figured it could be fun for making holes in briges so you could fly up them tho! =) But thats just my oppinion.

And veichles.. I know its kinda lame and all, but but but... I wanna have it. I would like veichle maps and non veichle maps. Most of my maps are huge! So some kind of transport would be nice, but tanks and jeeps with stat guns are a no no no no!
I was think of something like an airplane that you could spawn from as in the form of a paradropp or such.

I would like this if it applied to bullets as well. I make lots of storm the beach lvls and there going against turrets. It would be nice to see the sand shoot up around the attacking team.
