I think 1.2 is bad only for the weapon settings... got used to 1.1.5 and cant get used to 1.2... if the settings would be put back the way they used to be everyone (exept noobs :P) would be happy

Michal then had to make the barret BETTER instead in order to not lose half the Soldat population -.- So if he made the barret better than he would have to make every other wep better as well in hopes of achieving balance. i'm sorry, but why does a weapon that has 30bullets, shoots VERY fast, has a great arc and doesnt really need a skill, can own (badly, if i can say) a weapon that has only 1bullet, shoots preety slow, has good arc also, and yet - this weapon involves with skill.

Yes half the Soldat community (almost) complained about Michal's decision to nerf the barret in order to achieve balance. And this is what they got.

Well sadly I had no idea that some fools wanted the barret better. Neither have I seen many people enthusiastically cheering the barret's improvements. What's going on here? Well maybe they're they're keeping it to themselves, and keeping themselves from getting brutally flamed. And "those of you who think the weps suck, you did this to yourselves"...wouldn't those people be the one's who wanted the barret to be weakened? If that's the case then how did they do it to themselves? But nonetheless, there's time to get used to this new situation. Eventually people will end up enjoying the new version...hopefully.

I wasn't comparing, I was giving an example. You can't just say "it sucks", but you also can't say "well go build your own". If you really think about it, it doesn't make sense. Unless he has the know how to build a comparable game, that means he can't give his opinion on the subject. Just because he cannot make his own program doesn't mean he can't comment on soldat.

Again, most people wouldn't be allowed to post opinions on things, just because they can't make it themselves.

Damn it, this sucks that my computer crashed RIGHT [like, hours before] 1.2 was released. Now I can't offer a rebut whether 1.2 is good or bad. But I bet it kicks ass. :| So stfu.

squirrel has a point, i just get back and what fo i see, well, i saw 1.2 for the 1st time, but... i got that and checked it out... soo.. anysay, back to what im going to say, i see ppl saying it blows! now i agree a little by saying soldat it self isnt that great, but i saw CTF Death and its uberness (everyone has to agree, for polys like this that looks nice) i noticed a HUGE diffrence, 1.2 is a lot better than b4, but now, everyone says it blows, and when 1 person alone, 1 PERSON makes a game like this, he SHOULD be given at least that 8th star out of 10.

ps. barret blew in the 1st place cause ppl kept useing it over and over, mike shoulda made it so you had to duck/prone in order to see that Xhair

it's just like that.. Michal did all the work, with the help of betatesters and everybody else, but he isnt VALVE or EA or w/e.. i personally think that the autos may be a little bit overpowered, and that the barret is cool now.. but it is a huge difference between 1.1.5 and 1.2 and i think most of it was for the best.. and u can always count on the marvelous updates that are to come :D

Anyway, going back to the 'car' issue. Computers are, well, wierd. It doesnt really matter who you are, its suprisingly simple to learn new skills on the computer...I have been able to do loads of stuff, like make web pages, create a couple of skins of the grandaddy of games, Half Life, make a clan (:D leader of Rebel Nation), create mods, create graphics and im in the middle of learing C Programming (simple 3d-ish games).

And IBT is right. Michael is a one man army. When I was in the modding community for Half Life the teams were well..quite big. I havn't seen anything like what mike has done before. He created his OWN engine, sounds, graphics, ideas. He pretty much made an entire game by himself. Now I dont know, but thats something can go down in the "greatest achievments of the 21st Century book"*

but soldat you have to agree gamewise isnt too great, if you throw away all that extra credit for being standalone and all that id give soldat a 5 of 10, yet soldat, like any other game, can be the best if you find a good server with good people and enjoy yourself, everyone should agree they dont want to spend a whole game getting helplessly eatin alive by a big ailen, (this made a few hate threads in the NS forums) or getting helplessy sniped out of the air by a barret rambo.

Michal did make Barret completely useless in one of the betaversions. It were no chance in hell it could stand up vs any automatics. This is why we wanted it better. Sorry enough it became too good along with all the other guns.

I think the barret is annoying. In most of the online games i've played, the population got mad at the sight of a barret. Those of you who think you're "original" because you hide in a bunker and obtain your kills by sniping, get a grip. that's what most people want to do.

ok i must admit. I love soldat and its a great game and michal is a god for doing this alone, but i HATE the goddamn barret. Really HATE it. Call me pathetic if you want, but i think that a sniper weapon should not be able to be used as an assault weapon.

Well, there is only one main way to stop this barret dispute: weapon number restrictions.

It's a risky idea though, if we have a limited number of barrets we could have limited m79s, rugers, mini-gun and mp5k! Its an option but a dangerous one :x
