I was wondering if anyone knows any software, like Fraps, but where you can record what you're doing on your desktop, seeing as Fraps only works for Games (well for me anyway).

Yepp, Fraps only captures the stuff from DirectX and OpenGL applications.

You could try "Camtasia" (Google)
or just check www.downloads.com

Edit: Just looked at downloads.com and found this: http://download.com.com/3000-2194-10228294.html?tag=lst-0-2

There used to be a software included with windows that would capture your desktop(or anything else on the screen, excluding fullscreen games) called Microsoft Movie Maker, but it sucks up memory fast and I dunno how compressed the video files are.

Errm, I have that and that's what I use to edit my Movies.
