Stumbling on a few reviews of new game 'Far Cry' and buying into their gobsmacked excitement over playing it, I figured I might as well download it.

Sighing at the 3 ISO's i'd have to download over a week's period through my meager 128k cable (about 20kbps download), I was a little astounded at what happened.

Somehow, in the space of just 8 minutes, I managed to download an 801mb ISO over DC++ (like kazaa) from some average DSL! 100mb a minute!


Alas this burst of speed seems to have ended, and the other two iso's will have to wait. [:-indifferent] ...just thought i'd share the story.

The question is, does the ISO work?

Cable connections seem to be funny like that. At times mine is absolutely brilliant, I swear.. but most of the time it's pretty [:-censored]ty..

i think that is an average speed, one of my teachers hacked into our internetconnection (the provider itself) and stole his private connection, and with his self made program he got upto speed of 6.25MB/s

DSL uses the conventional telephonic line and cable uses usually optical fiber.Dont say you have both.
In both the telephonic operator disallows users having more bandwidth than what had they paid, but while in telephonic line there is a maximum of 20 Mbps(more less 2.5MB/s) or less, depending of its quality, optical fiber allows much more bandwidth, it also depends of its quality but lets say for example 100 Mbps or 1000 Mbps

Uh, I think he was downloading OFF a DSL connection.

hes on a 128k ;) so that speed is really kinda suprising
