Flagger Leaves = Flagger Dies

We all know that when a flagger leaves the server (or lags out) the flag automatically goes to its base. I propose for the flag to fall where the flagger stood. just as it would if he/she were killed.

i agree with this..

i hate it when someone with flag leaves..
it happens not that much
but when it does its so annoying..

Yes, good idea. If I've got the flag and leave a server, I always tell my teammates to come to me to get the flag, and if anyone is there I kill myself, then I leave. But it would be nice if this would happen automatically, because I don't think everyone kills him/herself before leaving.

Aye I love this idea, this is what soldat needs, forget the bugs and the barret debate, this is what will make soldat perfect.

even if this is a problum how many tmes has it happend to you its rarely
ever happend to me because when someone has the flag the hurry and return it.

If an admin kicks you out if you have the flag then that has to be the biggest noob admin ever

great idea, even though the returning of the flag to its base when killed is sometimes a good thing. for example when you have to leave and the opposing teams players are around, if the flag dropped that means they would gain control.

kevith

well having it go back accomplishes the exact same thing. I find it very difficult to think of a plausible scenario where having the flag return would be preferrable to having it drop.

Thanks for the replies. So whats next, how do me make this get into the "Approved List"

kevith

Either we'll get lucky and Michal will see it or somebody with a little bit of "Michal-clout" (b00sta comes to mind) will like the idea enough to email it to him.

It doesn't. That's the point. If you have to leave and there are enemies around, if you leave and it drops, the enemy will probably return... but at least you have chance (albeit a small one) of recapturing. If it just goes back to the base when you leave, it's the same thing as if they had returned it anyway. In what situation would you prefer to have the flag returned to the enemy base rather than dropped?

Sorry, I made a mistake. For some reason I was thinking their flag goes back to our base haha. I see what you mean by saying its the same now, and I agree it would be better if it dropped because then there is a chance your team can return it.

I agree with this. And if the admin whould kick the player who has the flag when he's taking it to his base, you whould report about this in forums only IF it whould be a tournament game. In other game's though, this might be annoying. But it's a good idea.

I think the decision is pretty uniform here...yes, yes, yes. Ping kicks and other reason for a flagger leaving a server have given up the advantage too many times.

I'm assuming a topic on this forum is like a petition. We need a lot of signitures, even if there's no other side to the arguement in sight. So here's mine, and if you want to improve the game you will add yours too.

There is one small problem though. What if that player takes the flag and rocket-jumps/minugun boosts into some normally unreachable place and then logs out? B2B is good example where this is possible. One solution would be for the flag to be inmediatly respawned if it falls on certain polygons that are normally unreachable. But in the end i do like the idea.

in that case the team will have about 30 seconds to try and kill the enemy flagger instead of the no time they would have the way thing currently is. its still better then how it is today.

We should assure that if the flag falls over the edge or something that it will go back to it's base rather than being lost forever (who remembers THOSE days? *sigh* nostalgia).

if the flag hasnt been touched for almost a minute[dont know the exact time amount], it returns back to base. [just wanted to say this clearly]:)
