did you try turning off anti-aliasing? also id reccommend omega drivers [URL] over the current nvidia forceware (they increase graphics clarity and have less bugs).

Yeah... I'm having to use a different crappy computer over the summer and it used to play Soldat just fine, then last week *pow* I get that same stupid error everytime. It's a P3-733 running Win98se with just the standard HP Nvidia crap card. The thing that is the most annoying is that it used to run just fine on that computer. [:-banghead] I haven't had much luck in fixing it yet (but I haven't really had time to try either). If I get it working I'll let you know....

p.s. I think Palloco is on the right track. Try reinstalling your old driver.

quote:1. The game does not run! I get an error: cannot initialize 3d hardware, or something like that.

It's a hardware compatibility error:
- Make sure you have the latest DirectX drivers
- Try to run the game in window-mode
- Change the Windows desktop colors from 32-bit to 16-bit
- Try to change some Soldat Config settings (turn off Antialiasing, check 16-bit)
- Install the latest or different video drivers
- Try changing the windows desktop resolution and bit-rate
- Try turning down or up the graphics hardware acceleration (My Computer/Properties/Performance/Graphics)
- Try updating your motherboard drivers
- Check also this this topic on the forum - 3d initialization problem
- If you have Windows NT/2000 install the latest service pack
try those.. and give some information what you've done so far.
