IMO, the registration benifits are somewhat superficial. The real point of registering is just to support the game.

Don't get me wrong, if actual gameplay hindrances were applied to non-registers, I would drop soldat like a hot potato. Nothing pisses me off more than a freeware game that all of the sudden starts charging to play online. It's like, "Oh, now that you've gotten into your groove here, let me rip out your intestines through your anus. You have to register to get them back."
