Today, ive played a funwar together with one from pLue and one from MN vs. 3 guys from a clan called dMg. Although the war itself was nice and fair, a player named BioHazard used taunts that i think are definitely not ok, eventhough he used it only in teamchat. (The rest of his team used normal taunts)

I guess, he's using them in every game, but still, i dont like to be (indirectly) titulated as a N.azi. His taunts were like
"N.azi flagger escaping down, kill the b.astard"
"N.azis captured the base..."
and so on.

If i ran a ctf/inf league or tournament, i wouldnt accept teams using such taunts, even if they only use it only in teamchat.

At least we pwnd them quite high (4-3 on B2B, voland 6-1 or something like that, and about 7-1 on Laos), at least we teached them a lesson in that way. The only thing BioHazard said when i complained bout his taunts was "That are my taunts" and a lot of smileys without a real answer.

Now Id like to know what you think bout this, and using such taunts...

Hmm... all my taunts are just really to piss people off... I wouldn't call anyone a nazi tho... unless... err... they go on about jew-hating or whatever I MIGHT be compelled to call those certain kinds nazis... yet, maybe he was using a WWII mod or... I dunno... don't take much offense to it, some people can be quite absurd in their taunts...

maybe he just uses a ww2 mod?

I dont care if he used a mod, i dont want to be titulated as a n.azi, not even indirectly. And changing taunts is easy, so that mod aint an excuse.

All that's simply said is, it doesn't make you one, it's as if someone in soldat calls me a queer, doesn't mean I am one, just means I'll try to own them more...

They're just codenames for certain things... I remember when we matched a clan (:IM:?) and they had taunts like 'Incoming homos top', etc... they're strategic codenames, that's all.

Mmmmh, if the taunt say "Incoming bitch/homo/..." i dont care, but imho calling the enemy a N.azi goes too far :/

Spydey is right. Nothing can really be done, except for asking him to change his taunts. What can be done is in Michal's hands. I was thinking something like an anti-cuss option for servers. I know you guys think it's a stupid idea, but it's something.

too much options already...aiya...Instead of an option, I was hoping we introduce plugins, something that you dont HAVE to have in the game, but you can install it by downloading it from the official site and putting it inside the Soldat directory. The plugins will have different functions depending on the programmer/maker...

listen diablo, im not quite sure how things work down in austria, but up here, the word "nazi" is not a curse in any sense of the word...

#1 - he is calling YOU a nazi. technically speaking, that makes you the bad guy, not him. nazi's hated the jews...from what you say this guy didnt spout off any anti-semetic babble. his only infringement was calling u, the enemy, a nazi...which leads me to the second reason

#2 - you are not a nazi. you know exactly who you are deep down inside, so who gives a F*CK what some hapless noob calls you? furthermore, it wasnt even a PERSONAL comment...it wasnt directed at you and he made no attempt to single you, or any of your teammates out. It was just a simple TEAMSPEAK taunt, so obviously it WASNT PERSONAL.

I know that taunt wasnt there especially for opponents from Germany or Austria, but i still think this "there goes the nazi, kill him" directing at the enemy flagger or team (bla.. nazis captured the base..) is not okay. Maybe this is handled and understood different where you live wood, but those taunts are simply a kind of insult to the majority of german and austrian players (and more).
Sorry, you cant see everything from the american side of life, nor the finnish, nor any pure national view. American mentality does not work everywhere in the world, nor does finnish, greek or whatever national mentality.
You see, (if youve read the whole thread) quite a number of ppl also think that being called a Nazi, even through a taunt, is not ok.

I think when playing a game that is international (obviously every online game normally is), you should be careful with such things. Where is the problem with changing that taunt in "Enemy Flagger..." or if you want it hard n heavy "Enemy bitches/n00bs/losers/..."

If you think that my view is immature (seems you like playing the old, wise, omniscent man...), go ahead, i still dont want to be called a Nazi, even in a non-personal taunt.

I wouldn't take this too serious. I understand that you dislike it, but I'm sure he doesn't mean you as the person. It's more or less a "joke", like I know people who got taunts like "Enemy sheep incoming.." (heyho RR [;)]). Yes, it's a badly chosen "joke", but hey. Tell this guy that you don't want to see the taunt, and if he doesn't care, better try to ignore it.

I explained it long enough, and you will be the one who will get problems with quite a number of players in the future, cause of your totally idiotic taunt. Go to Austria or Germany and call someone a Nazi, just for fun (as you like to do), or a group of people (so it ain't personally adressed). You can be charged by the police for calling someone a Nazi in public here, just to inform you how serious this is taken in those countries. So your "good sense of humour" (oh, its so fun to call someone a Nazi 0_o) can bring you into troubles in other countries.

Well for the rest of the world, 'Nazi' is merely a comical noun for someone considered remotely evil. To think that someone who steals your flag must be so evil as to be a nazi is hilarious...in theory.

"Tell my wife I narghh.." is a taunt I often use in soldat. Alas theres always the unfortunate chance i've upset someone who's husband just died. Probably by a barret.


For all our misfortunes, characteristics, history and religions, there is a humerous side - no matter how dark or depressing the matter. I saw a jewish comedian making fun of his own last night... "i'm jewish, just so you know" he introduced himself, showing off his large hook nose and black hair. And even after the disaster of 9/11 there was a flurry of fear-of-plane jokes.

Granted, when something effects us directly it can be a little hard to take lightly, but self mockery is the greatest test of character. That, and sleeping with your sister's best friend.

Grand Diablo... don't take it too seriously... if taunt says that nazis are incoming it doesn't mean that youre a nazi. I say that only 'cause youre Austrian you have made so big number about it. Why? Nationalism Socialism is an ideology. It has some supporters in every continent. Austrians aren't the only ones with this problem so don't feel that taunt offended your national pride...

Mmmh i think the chance to meet a player from Germany or Austria is by far greater than meeting one whos husband just died. I dont feel so affected by it anymore than i did during that game and when i started the thread, but i still think the taunt was not chosen very intelligently :/
