That's related to the way Soldat records demos/network code.

k. This is the way I think it works:
you aim to the right, but your cursor is very close to your own Soldier. You record it as demo (no direct frapsing) and aim at the enemy in opposite direction very fast, shoot, aim to the right again. Soldat doesn't "notice" the change and it looks like it does in the movie.

b00stA: Just kiddin, it is in fact the soldat code that does it; the clips at the end are recorded with version 1.1.5 and the ones at start are recorded with 1.2.

Becasue you can't see the rifle acctually facing the other way when you watch the demo in 1.2. You can see it while playing but not in the demos or the movie.

I love this movie, nicly done in the beginning, but one thing is wondering me, you have this map, it's with those containers and stuff also where those 2 sniper try to shoot each other and with the former thing you just now showed us like shooting away from the enemy but bullet kills anemey anyways, i want to know the name of that map so i can download it

Sativa: Ye, something like 15 ppl or so stood up there and threw down there weapons.
Took like 20-30 takes and 2 hours to get it right, but the results were good.

I'm kinda curious about what part of the movie you (all) like best or what trick/kill
you thought rocked the most and why.

Cuz some of the tricks are everyday tricks for me and some are not,
and it's interesting so hear what think of them.

The ak-throw that I do is not that hard, and the backshot while standing on ground is
not that hard ither.

I can tell you that the hardest trick(s) to do was the one at the end with m79 over the
roof of B2b and the backshot(s) in air. That double kill with one ak bullet was pure luck; I just stoped playing
and just went, "WTF, did I kill em both in one shot?" and I had to check the demo right away to be sure.

Right now i'm thinking of doing another movie, and I got some tricks and ideas spinning in my head.

I liked the part on Bridge. You got quite a few kills there without dying, looks great. I also liked the other part on Krab when you killed about 6 or 7 people with AK without dying. I can do the last one on top of B2b, didnt find it very hard to do. But the AK stuff was just horror-instilling :P

I didn't use the vest. But the thing is, its not the trick that's hard, its mastering the grenades well enough to do it. I use 'nades more than I use my primary weapons. I won't send you any clip of me doing it. Truly, weather you believe me or not doesn't really matter, I can't prove it to you verbally, and I can't record anyway, tried it once or twice and didn't work :\ So believing what a generic guy on the forum's might say about doing a seemingly hard trick is up to you ;) But this isnt the matter at hand. The point is, mastering the 'nades and knowing exactly where to throw them depending on predicting when they blow up and when you will hit the ground is the hard part, but playing extensively with them can get you the practice you need.

What did look pretty hard was the part on ctf_voland, when you caught the AK under the bridge, killed the guy while floating, and managed to get out alive. I nearly pissed my pants while watching that part, due to the extreme suspense. (Yes, that's half sarcastic, it did look hard).

I also liked the trick of them passing the AK to you and then getting their asses handed back to them in a matter of seconds, nice stuff.

eh im curious what program did you use record/edit/finish this clip :o

that fuking sniper: It's not that hard to record, heh, just press f8 to start and f8 again to stop;
then check your demos catalog and send the last demo to me by mail to ztaaf@mail.com

As a matter a fact, I really don't belive you untill you prove itt to me, and the only way is to
send me a demo of you doing it. I know i took me about 200 takes to get my clip right and it take
a little more then just "mastering the grenades well enough" to do it.

Hercule Poirot: I uses Soldat to record demos, and recorded again with Fraps.
Then i did the mistake of using VirtualDub and compressing the clips before using the
clips in Adobe Premiere 7, and that made the quality in the final movie pretty bad.
And then I got some help from Gotcha to compress it and making the quality as good as possible,
and he used Movie Maker after compressing the movie in Premiere with standard settings.


So:
Soldat
Fraps
VirtualDub (In virtual you should only cut the clips, that you previously recorded with
Fraps, down to a length that are going to use in the movie.)
Adobe Premiere 7
Win Movie maker
Oh, almost forgot Dimond Demo Player.

hey luke i like that ak throwing: could it be you just press reload an quickly throw so it is already reloaded, and use edit button next time instead of double posting ;)

Sativa: The ak dosen't reload while in the air, you have to reload or have bullets left when catching it.
But you have to know when to realod, you need the split vision to see if there is ppl around =)

well a tip for you then: throw your gun away, pick it up, throw it away again, and it's reloaded

Mmmm, well Luke, you convinced me to try and I couldn't do it. :) I wasn't even referring to weather I could or couldn't do it from the start, I'm actually doing a little project about relativity and mentality and whatnot, I just lead you into thinking that I could do it. This example was: Saying that its easy is relative, I can always say something is easy to do, and still not be able to do it myself.

Anyway I was planning on revealing my true colors sooner or later and it is now. The trick looks great and you impressed me when you did it. But the Voland thing under the bridge was still more intense...

I just tried the Backshot trick today, heh. Here's the demo showing me using the trick with an M79. :) It's not that hard at all, you just have to figure out why it's so tricky. There's a secret behind it.

I've been on a short roadtrip now for 3 days and came home just 1 hour ago and checked selfkill.com, and there it was, in the upper right corner, the nr. 1 download!! I just couldn't belive that, more downloads then the game it self?! my guesses is that it's because of what Michal wrote on the official page, not sure, it's just a theory :P

And I got some ideas spinning around in my head about making 1 or 2 more movies; there were some tricks I wanted to be in the final movie but there was little time and they were very hard to do in public servers, so stay tuned for more hardcore action!

Just wanna make a few things clear:

The so called backshots where the rifle points to the right and the shot goes to the left
has to do with the demo/network code.

Another thing that has to do with the coding is the health and jetgas bars
that seems to be att 100% all the time wich is not the case when u play;
it looks like its full but it's not.

All he did was record demos, and then record himself, by being his own spectator. In a way, you were right. The backshot tricks everyone but the player in any game, because of the network code. Still, no one should tell anyone else how to do it. Let them keep trying, and let them be frustrated. :) Seriously.

It took the whole having fun part away. :P Normally people would think of SOldat being a game in which the only thing to do is shoot people, but there's so much more. It was a great concept, but you got to it first. :P

Could someone offer me some help with getting this thing working. I saw earlier someone who had the same problem... on about page 1 and someone said to get ffdshow. So I did that, still doesnt want to work. I've tried it with Media Player 9, Media Player Classic, Bs Player... so I'd say it has something to do with ffdshow not installing properly. Any help?

Just get VLC (google for VLC download win32).. it should have the proper codecs.

Edit: Nevermind. The file got corrupted at some point during the download, so I downloaded it again and it works fine.

And for those of you asking for what the music is, I know that the song during the first section (the song with all the screaming) is New Noise by Refused. Amazing band, sweet song, Crazy Demo

Uhm, if you just hit people with your weapon (up close) or fist they drop their weapon, and you can pick it up..

That's how Luke did the backwards barret trick, as revealed on page 2.

Where he was shot and didn't die, that was just lag playing up and making it look like he was hit by the bullet, where truthfully he wasn't...or he was wearing a bullet proof vest..

YES! Indeed you did. And the only reason I thought X was very good, was that he did do the barret thing good, but also, I hardly ever see anyone ever crouch or go prone to dodge things, or use grenades only to bounce a person up, just to shoot them. Anywho, thanks for clearing up the "Death" thing.

I really enjoyed the video, but one thing that i liked more than the video was the music, can you give me the names of the songs used in this movie plz.

nice, i also played someone who had amazing barret skills. He had amazing accurasy lol. But I didnt know normal nades could bounce you up like that? Hmm, imma try that ;) Btw, were the stunts like 'dodge and the 2 blues knifing eachother' played out. or was it real? and was the whole weapons falling from the sky played out too? thats nice :P

actully i think everything is real (Nearly) only thing i surley know is fake..is the falling Ak47 =)

acting? so the one where he punched the barret off that enemy's hand, and picked it up and shot the guy was probably with a fellow actor? because i think that's kinda hard...unless the guy really suck that much.

No no, the only acting in this movie is the stunts. All action scenes are real.
I would know, and most of team sv, since we were close back then.

I can tell you what clips are set up or prepared.
-The intro including the backshot on blan was prepared.
-The weapon catching scene on cambodia
-The backshot on weed in credits
-Knife fighting scene with my fellow compadre avskum was partially set up

The rest of the material is all taken from public servers.
You can easily see if the material is "fake" in the sence that is is set up to look like there is
a fight in a public server or if the material is real. I've seen some really good tricks here and there that sadly was set up.
