Is it just an impression or cheaters are increased? Is it so easy to hack soldat? In the last days there is at least 1 cheater playing on public servers and offending people, we can't have fun with these stupids.
Don't tell me "play on servers with passwords", there are lots of ppl that just don't know passwords. So, let's discuss: what can we do against cheaters?

(Hitman, don't lock it)

wallhacking is VERY easy :(

A few months ago I wrote to Michal about it and even suggested him a simple solution how to fix it [}:)] There should be something like security fixes, I don't want to wait a year for another version of Soldat to get rid of cheaters.

Maybe soldat needs punkbuster, dont ya think?

well there is this inf server llama's, it requests that you send the cheaters names to him, but what does it matter if we send name, he can just quickly change his name and vwalla, and ip changers exist to i had one and it deffinatly worked

the cheat detection method in soldat sux. and there is a way to disable punkbuster, heard it somewhere

perhaps, Michal can talk to the guys who make Cheating-Death and permanatly put a version that updates itself in soldat.

Cheaters are a problem every more or less popular online game has to cope with, so we will never get totally rid of em i fear. But for now, there should be done something, time for a new server fix or similar, to keep the number of cheaters as small as possible.

one of my friends i showed the game used to hack ALOT but then i stopped playin with them til they stopped and I got them to delete them all. To bad all hackers arent so easily convinced. Apparently the site he got them all from ingame got shut down to so a step in the right direction for sure. I guess I can mention the name since he dont hack no more. Keep an eye out for $D*Money$

anyhow..I don't see many cheaters cause I usually always play on passworded servers but when i have gone to public ones I've seen quite alot of idiots...we need some anti--cheat thingy (although we need ant-whine thingy more)

i think the only way to stop cheaters, it to permanatly remove modding, and force the game to have nothing new or changed files, but that kinda sucks for when the game is moddable, and this is happening, ever since i gor fadelook for NS i lost acces to 30% of servers :/

I started playing soldat this week, and already i have met cheaters![:-weepn] nothing too serious though (like god mode or something) wallhackers are usual...

By the way...it's summer...Michal's was on holiday until a couple of days ago (http://www.soldat.pl/main.php). It's also been six months (or something like that) since 1.2 was released, five months since the fix. I'm expecting beta testing to start any day now. Don't say Michal doesn't love us, because he does! He's getting a new version ready with lots of spangly new things and hack fixes in to give us [:D]

thats not going to stop hackers/cheaters if you make the game unmoddable. You see, some hackers hack the game as a chanllenge, the more cheat protection they have to get thru, the funner it is for them. and others just get trainers ruin poeple fun.

It's exactly as Ninja said, and it's a sad fact, but hackers will always exist, so we might as well just get over it. As long as there are servers such as Blan's and Llama's, we'll be fine. We can call those servers safe spots.

OK I hope I dont get banned for this but I found the best hack ever. It may be a little hard to do for people new to soldat so bear with me. First open the game (make sure to change your name to sometihng other then soldier) and either start your own or join one. If you start getting pawned leave game and join easier one. Now keep playing over and over for as long as possible and after a short while you may notice getting kills is more and more easier! repeat in more difficult games and eventually you will have an unfair advantage over beginners! Try not to spread this trick around to much because it works alot better when no one else does it. (not a problem so far usually)

Well, u can use a proxy server to change u IP but then ur connection is like 20x slower, so the game's really crappy.

I think the best thing for servers to do against hackers is to have as much remote admins as possible and to make ppl give the hackers' namez.

As for vote-kicking, it isn't really effective, cuz even IF it works the cheaters just cum back a sec later...

Also, its good to have an Anti Cheater Taunt (example: ...:::Cheater detected, vote kick if yer not a n00b:::...) on the ready.

By the way, I hope the next versions of Soldat will have the map bugs fixed..

I get booted off the Soldat servers, but i don't cheat. Hell, i'm new here. I don't wanna cheat (or know how [^])

Lets make a type of master ban list like Amaricans army(maby you dont know the game)

Put the names of the cheaters there and all the host can see it...
But than some peaple of the team or me if i gonna download it again most see him cheating els his name will be deleted from the masterban list.

Maybe a dumb question. But what can you do against cheats. Is it illegaly to cheat and distribute cheats? I don't wanna defend the cheaters and those who write cheats, they really ruin the game, but in the end it's just an .exe file.

I also have a hack: Press 8 in the Weapon Choose menu and you will get an evil weapon that hits everything at a huge distance and kills at once. Don't ask don't tell!

I dont know who has the money to do such a thing but its just a idea.

sure, it does need some people with just a bit inteligence to vote in the server (sometimes hard with the noobs of nowadays) but it's the perfect sollution right?

Considering that it's a vote kick and not a vote ban, it's kinda useless.

If someone is vote kicked their IP is banned for 30 minutes... that helps a little ;)

Well for me if I get banned from a server then all I have to do is disconnect from my internet and reconnect and I can go back on the servers.

The problem with your IP being banned is, that there are A LOT of people who just vote-kick you for no reason, leaving you stranded on a desert island of no playability for half an hour, when you've done nothing wrong. Not fun.

I've never seen someone get vote kicked "just because"... it's difficult enough to vote kick someone who deserves it (e.g., a hacker or an AFK).

I found this game about a week ago and today decided to try it online. After 5 minutes of playing I got banned because "a possible cheat" ? Well that was a warm and nice welcome..

fragment, it's something you should probably get used to. Almost everybody got kicked for possible cheating, although they were just playing normally.

Hahaha, the funny thing is that I've seen spectators get kicked for a "possible cheat." If you really care that much, try to contact the server admin and tell him the situation, or just find another server. If you want some nice servers to play on, take a look at my signature. However, what I really hate is when a hacker decides to be a smartass, telling people to deal with it, and to stop whining. I've been thinking about a solution to this, but it isn't easy to come by. One thing I did manage to think of was to implement a max admin limit. The server host could possibly distribute the adminlog somewhere so people would know about it, like in the server greeting. Granted, they can log in as admins, but let's say there can only be 2 admins in the server at once (permanent admins are exclusions), and could take care of problems like hackers, unbelievably moronic lamers, etc. To sum it up, the adminlog is distributed, but only a set number of temporary admins can log in at once, permanent admins being an exception. This would most likely put an end to the vote kick and hacker problems. A good limit to temp admins would be two.

Then the server would be crawling with noob admins kicking everyone. :/

Not exactly. How many n00bs read the server greeting, and that's why there would be two admins, so that one could override the other in such a case, and kick or ban him. I see your point though. It was just an idea.

I still like kevith's idea. But with the current inaffectiveness of vote kick, simply reasoning with a hacker may be the easiest solution.

I think that MM should use smth like PunkBuster against those cheaters. Unfortunately more and more player or rather n00bs start using cheats. :/
