I've just dropped a new search page onto the forum, looks the same as the old one but it's part 1 of a new back end that should improve search times...and get rid of the timeout that some folks get.

wow it worked!

I searched for all archived posts by myself on any date, all forums and it didn't time out. AMAZING! (I really like the ability to search 'all forums' and 'any date')

I also did an impossibly broad search (just to test) and timed out (received the exact same message as Hitman). The search was for "barret" in 'all forums' on 'any date' and not archived. ;)

Styx, a little suggestion, can you have a link next to the "Search by member" box that opens a new window where you can search for and select a member to enter in? Like when you select a member name to send a PM to.

what search criteria are you using?
That line is used when you search for a perticular members post. Anyhow, can you try it again now?

I've also been getting that error recently when searching for posts by a specific member.

yup, anytime you include a member's name in the search it gives that error, leave it with me.
Can you re-test now plz.

Searching for posts by a specific member works fine here...

It seems to be working now (at least the same search that gave me the error yesterday did).
