i dont get it... you have ati 9600 graphics card and a good enuff prosessor, mebbe add a little more ram, but other than that its all good.

it still looks wonderful, doom is a very demanding game. not all games in the future will be as demanding as doom. but if u want to play doom the best possible, get 512 more ram, and get an ATI Radeon X800

errr... unless your willing to spend do not get a X800.

800x600 is the most efficient and the most popular way to play any game... i dont see anything wrong with your comp unless you just feel like pounding money into it

I play 800*600 and i not going to spend a lot of money. and 1 other thin, the game always lags with new sound. Ive got an onboard-soundcart. I do not what kind but i got an epox motherboard. ( 1 of the cheapest)

Cookie: yes the X800 didnt perform as well in teh benchmarks for Doom 3, but in games like Half life 2 and STALKER, it had a better score.

dadarkman: doom 3 isnt compatable with any of those special sound cards, it only works with the onboards, so just make sure you have all the latest drivers for your mobo and vid card.

I have 2.53Ghz, 1024 SDRAM, Radeon 9700 and Doom³ runs perfectly... On 1024. There must be something wrong with your comp.

Heh. I have a 1.4ghz, 512MB DDR, Radeon 9000 Pro and Doom3 basically doesn't run on lowest settings. There is no need for you to upgrade. Your comp is nearly 2x better than mine, if anything invest into my computer.

with such a pc, i dont see your problem, if you have money to spare, buy some accessories for your machine, like a dvd writer, or some good speakers.
