I've had mapmaker for a day or so and i can make maps and every thing fine, but when i play them the graphic quality is not as good as a regular map. is there some way to make it better?

Its not the mapmaker's problem, its a matter of skill. Just practice with the mapmaker a bit more, and look for tutorials for map making. Heres a good site:

no, i can't. i see the hand of God in the default maps. the proportions, decorations and playability are really well polished. i guess math and shape associated with nature is the key.
