You're probably playing in fullscreen, right?
Either turn it off or try different refresh rates for it (config.exe > Graphics > Refresh rate)

Ok I will try different refresh rates...If I just turn off everytime then I wont be able to play much will I... =\.

Edit: trying different refresh rates, did not work.

Oops, I meant to turn off fullscreen mode (it's in config.exe too)

What OS do you have?
I had some problems with the monitor turning off in fullscreen, because it changed to a resolution + refresh rate that the monitor didn't support.
Try a refresh rate fix (http://www.google.de/search?q=refresh+rate+fix&hl=de&btnG=Google+Search) and set the default refresh rate for 640*480 to 60 hz. That should work, because pretty much every monitor supports that.

graphics card is ati radeon 9800 series. It supports 800x600 to 2048x1536 iv'e got 1024x768. When I said No signal went away, I was wrong. I downloaded the latest drivers, tried changing res, tried playing in non fullscreen, tried almost everything. So the 2 problems are......No signal, crashing and freezing and not coming back.

Any more solutions?

You get the "No Signal" message even when you're playing in windowed mode? that's.. weird
Do you have the drivers for the monitor too?

Meh, if that were you would be unable to run soldat on fullscreen mode because soldat runs in 640x480. First case of soldat not running due to having a too powerful computer.
But that should not affect windwoed mode... what does exactly happen?
What is your monitor?
If you have intel try turning HT off.
What is your directx? Try dx90b

In windowed mode I don't get no signal, it just freezes. It's also tough playing in windowed mode. No signal only comes in full screen.

Things iv'e tried

*blank screen while ati fixes
*drivers for graphics card
*drivers for monitor
*speedfan( to check volts etc )
*refresh rates
*resolutions
*couple other small config changes which didn't work

Anymore suggestions?

http://www.omegadrivers.net/
Those are alternative drivers for both ATI and NVIDIA, maybe that will help.

Install SP2 if you use XP or upgrade to XP if you have other OS

Yes, you should download dx90b since xp has 90a by deafult and run the video tests. Also download and RUN 3dmark05 to check if it crashes.
Try diferent video configurations, like 16 bis of color with 800x600 and start soldat with antialiasinf off and windowed mode.

What is you motherboard and power supply? Maybe you dont have enough watts.
HT= HyperThreading. You can disable it in Bios if you have it.

No signal is gone...I solved this by going to soldat, then properties then compatibility and making it soldat's res. But now it freezes sometimes so how should I sort this?

he said its a new comp he should have enough, maybe the comp just doesn't like him...
or maybe mike dislikes him for some reason and made it impossible to play on his computer...
