I really like to port or see a port of SolDat to SDL and hence available to run on linux/unix/solaris/mac/osx/palmos/symbianos, etc. It would be so cool getting to play SolDat on handheld/mobile-phones aswell as expanding the range of platforms SolDat can be played on.

But first, I don't mean to intrude or force the source code to be released or made open-source. But I like it if it was on a standard/easy to port to linux/macosx/etc. hence if it was running under SDL (really easy and portable graphics multimedia layer).

Anywayz, what do you think guys?

Would also be glad to help if any porting task was past/put forward.

I don't see how it would work on other platforms, and you can already play it on Linux, using Wine. Not sure about Mac though, and I recall someone saying that it was unlikely that it was going to be ported anywhere else. Too much trouble for a small game.

It works fine on wine with Linux, besides the font.

I can't install Wine because of no-admin/privilages. I like to have quick deathmatches after work on work linux PCs, etc.

Plus I would also love to play on my iBook MACOSx.

And maybe later play on my PocketPC or SymbiamOS phone like AG100.

Soldat would not be the same game on a handheld/mobile. There is no mouse to aim. I imagine it with a touchpad for aiming but I don't think it would be the same experience as on the PC. It would rather be single player but I certainly have no time to make ports and I'm not considering releasing it open-source yet.
