Popularity contests should of [IMAGE]ing died at school. They do nothing but fuel the ego of the elitist [:-censored] in this game.

first of all, this isnt about whos popular and not.
its to vote for the best player there is on a certain position..
and besides the admins (me,frag,urhos) will take final votes
on the winner of each category, so there wont be any abuses going on
like (noobs winning categories) yet the main measure will be the total votes for each.

I suggest another award:

the "Community Award" to those, who contribute to the Soldat community besides playing.
(For example, like many mappers (Souldnipa & other SMLers), Toumaz and his fan apps,...).

This voting should be added I think.

Perhaps it would be better for the awards to be administered not on a vote basis, but on individual performance according to matches. In example: winning clans of CTFL seasons get a title, U13's webpage calculates statistics giving awards for the most caps, the most returns, the highest kill ratio.

Perhaps those would be too close to "medals".

P.S. I have never even heard of most of the people on there and I been playing a couple years.

Why does anybody care who is the best or whatever? Plus, a vote wouldn't necessarily determine that. Just look at good ol' America. We use a voting system and look where that got us...

Secondly, this idea is actually pretty good, in the sense that everyone can somehow be redirected there when or before they make one of those "Who's the best?!?!?" topics.

This comes just as a suggestion, but TomPenny, I don't really like the part about the admins taking a final vote. It's not a big deal or anything, but it just doesn't seem all that good to me. If you feel that this is the best way to run the Soldat Awards, then it's fine with me.
