Anyway I have a whole soldat script I was going to make a movie for, but I've lost all motivation to make flash, I only have 1 movie on NG too :(

I am serious. it took me three days to make a decent animation in a [:-censored] gif program. And it is 1000 times easyer in flash.

I did. but I lost it when my PC crashed. try and find it if you want, I have been wanting to get it back.

the version I posted up here was unfinished but still fairly good.

That's not technically considered Flash, Buck. That's actually a ... er ... an animated GIF. <_< A Flash animation can be exactly like an animated GIF, if that's the only knowledge you posess of it. Flash has playback controls, interactions, actionscript; it is absolutely filled with aspects that an animated GIF doesn't have.

And to Will, sure, go for it, wouldn't hurt if you have the time.

Excatly kazuki. That is why its is easyer. You can still use frame by frame animation but you can also use tweening an other things. I have actually made a small game in flash as well. Of which I DO have a copy of on my PC.

and devil like I said I lost it so I have no idea of the file name.

anyway, should the soldiers be done in flash or should i use the actual graphics for it?

oh, btw, this is movie so srry if any of you were thinking it was a game, its better to tell you now than you finding out and being dissapointed when i release it.

i'd say use char models from soldat, but change em around a bit to make em seem to fit in better with surroundings made using flash, something like what a soldier looks like with the cell shaded mod on

yeah, i think i will use raster imaging for them (changes normal bmp's/gif's etc. into flash objects)

anyway, expect regular updates.

you need a script for a movie, every movie has a script, a story. theres got to be some plot to it?

That depends on what you define as good. If it's going to be a small gif or short, then fine. If you're talking about an actual animation/movie, making something decent in flash can be a royal pain in the ass.

Making a soldat movie was particularly tricky becuase of a handful of issues:

1. How do you draw backgrounds or scenery for a game that has no backgrounds and little scenery?

2. How detailed should the characters look? Cleaned up, conceptual characters or animated gifs from the game?

3. Should the characters have names or be random characatures of people that play so people can relate better?

4. How much plot should there be? Too little and it's just random events that might not hold interest. Too much and it can totally screw up what Soldat is all about....those unfortunate enough to have seen "Soldat Clips" know what I'm talking about.

and the list goes on. I'm really interested in seeing what you come up with, Will. Post a screen shot or something to keep us updated; even if it's just a title screen. :D

1. the map floor is a actual soldat texture with a alpha blended green block over the top (tints it green) whereas scenery is redrawn in flash.

2. the characters are small so the detail dosent have to be maxed out.

3. the people dont have any names, i thought if i gave them some they would spoil the animation.

4. there is a slight plot. it is more of a parody than a movie.

actually i am good, i wanted the feel of soldat to still be in the animation.

damn, sorry i havent been working on the flash at the minute. i have been approached by Natwest to make buttons and a banner for them, its worth it for £2000 (approx. $1000)
