Take soldat to the next level

I know people will like this and dislike it but i'll suggest it anyway.

In the soldat settings have so many more things to customise your character. Like Hats or w/e the [IMAGE] wants them. Boots, camoflauge clothes, skin colours IN soldat without sscc, customised guns...the big one. Customising your faveourite gun: If you move power up, reload takes faster and bullets are slower. If you move power down you get faster bullets and faster bullet time. So you can tweak your weapons and colours of them etc. Everyone would have their prefferred choice. They could even rename them and it comes up on the killog....jaz obliterated soldier with his BMG!! Soldier ate Jaz's rocket!! Obviously also changing team names in team games and team colours.....Make your name have colours like /rJ/wA/rZ would give red J white A and red Z. I think this would take soldat to the next level....I have even heard people talk about how ctf is getting boring and they want people to play the other game modes, but the other game modes suck apart from dm and survival.

Think about this seriously because it would bring soldat to the next level and would increase michals money like tenfold cos soldat would get hella popular worldwide. Cha ching michal cha ching.

For the weapon mod idea:

I dont like it, as it would create again, balancing problems (which we got rid from most of em with 1.2.1).

For the name idea:
I support that, like I said in another thread concerning this.

Mm, I have to disagree with those ideas. I think customizing options for your character as it is right now is pretty good so it doesn't need many additions, if at all any...

Customizing favourite weapon isn't very good idea either because weapon balance is nearly as good as possible right now and anyway, it might create some kind of confusion...

About the team colours.. it's fine right now. Why change it?

I have to disagree with colour name-ideas too. Isn't it annoying if you see a player with name of "ABCDEFG" for example, and every single letter colour is totally different from other letter's colours? A being blue, B being red, C being yellow, D being green, E being black, F being white and G being brown.. meh.

I agree, but lets not pressure the guy too much, its not like hes a whole company.

What luxury things could be added to the game:

- More server customisation (custom scripts like in CS or TFC or any other game)
- More character customisations
- more game options
- more name cutomisations
- more game modes

But its not neccessary at the moment, what he has made is good enough allready

Since when have you played a 2d chooter before? Me, never, it will take over 2 years for me to stop playing this game compleatly, even after, ill still want to enjoy the retro-ness of it.

We have alot more years to go before this game dies. I hopw it never will

The name colors sound pretty good, most good games have that feature, for example: CoD and Painkiller.

I think all those ideas are pretty neat, thought I doubt the whole weapon mod idea will get implemented into the game.

Perhaps in the weapon editor, though.

I dont think the customization is needed in Soldat, Soldat isn't a fashion show.

Creating your own gun would create unbalance like g_d said.

Colors in name, err, maybe for admin or people who have admin powers in the server, other than that, normal people shouldn't have colors in their nick because simply, Soldat isn't a chatroom.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing more character customization. For one though, you have to take into account the characters are so small, there's not THAT much detail to be had... I'm surprised they bothered with smoking or tobacco, consider it's hard to tell you're even doing anything :P

In the future, It'd be nice to see more character customization, but I'm not gonna ask for it, cause we don't need it.

I don't mind many of those ideas, but meh... I don't think theres a reason to put it in, I 'concur' with g_d and N1nj@ about the weapon thing, though...

Most those ideas would be a nice addition to soldat (bunny ears, colour in names) though they just seem too unnecessary.
And im with G-d and n1nj@ on the weapon cutomisation, keep the weapons the way they are

But then everyone can have their own special wep thats theres and nobody elses, like I think that would own.

I think you're talking about mixing RPGs with soldat for the weapon mods. I like the ideas of customizing your characters more. But Bunny Ears, geez.

Why the hell would you want bunny ears anyways?... gez damn crazy bunny ear fanatics...
although i would like to see a headband with customizable colors...
thier should be a couple more things to but not TOO many...

I thought about it some day. It would cool, like car engine tuning in race games but instead you could make your own customized gun. It would be fun but I would not risk the game balance, it could be only as an option in another game mode.

I think if enough time was put in it could be balanced. I know I can't do anything and understand no programming at all but like this could be the thing that seperates soldat from everything else. Also people could have their own special customised personalised super weps. Like 3 quick weak m79 bullets etc. Dooo it plz ;p.

Only when im desperate. I wasn't interested in....weapon editor....it would have sucked. This idea is better, its ur own custmised wep, most people would be different etc. It would make soldat have so many possibilities its unreal. Its in the interests for soldat ;o.

Nawh, its not about the technical part, but about the game part. If you could make a weapon stronger, but slower reloading and shooting, or weaker and faster reloading and shooter, people would go to the extremes.

Either you would start facing AKs used like barrets, reloading long, but killing with 2 shots, or you would face never-ending bulletspam with weps that are quite weak but almost do not need to reload.

Jaz

But obviously michal would fix it so it would be balanced on every aspect. Many more beta testers to try it etc on every aspect. And if a wep gets too powerful fix it and bring out a new version. Till it becomes perfect. Small things are also important. Gogo customisation.

I agree with jaz, you should be able to do anything yuou want with your guy, and should you tweak weapons it should have a weapon editor, the more ammo it has the faster but it needs to wind up, e.g the minigun, it shoots thus the more inacurate it is. the more bullets it has the longer it takes to reload the more damage the weapon does the more the weapon falls down or it goes slower or both. camo clothing would be awesome, plus wouldn't it be time to have a uzi or something? also i know this would take tonnes of effort this next suggestion anyway, but it should be like the specialists, the more things you have the slower you move the more you weigh the less you can jet, ect ect, effects your moving speed. plus respawn times should vary on the weapon you have like the server respawn time is the base right, and if you have a MP5 you get + seconds, ruger eqauls +11 barret +19 you know what i mean? like day of defeat. also could you put in some remote mines? that would rock. also if you change your guns appearance, it should show up on other peoples screens, like if somebody has a hk mod and the other guy has the default skins, the default guy should be able to see the hk mod and the hk mod should be able to see the default skins instead of what his weapon skins are. ps HOLY CRAP THATS ALOT OF WRITTING

Yes, have any of you played Soul Calibur II? Through Weapon Master mode, you can get much stronger weapons, which have different effects on both the user and the opponent. Now, this isn't what I'm suggesting, this is just background information. However, in SC2, you could not use your weapons in the normal modes, such as Arcade. You had to unlock special modes, such as Extra Arcade. In these modes, you could use the weapons that you had earned.

What I think would be a good idea is if there could be yet another mode in which custom weapons could be used. For example, the user makes their own custom weapons, using the original 14 as their base, and the game would make a seperate file to remember the weapon data. That way, when a player enters this certain mode, the game would load the customized files instead of the default ones.

However, this idea has a downside. For one, it is yet another game mode, which means more work and more data to pack into Soldat. Secondly, it would be hard to set up guidelines for the weapon customization to make it so that the gameplay is still fair no matter how customized your weapon is. Thirdly, this might make the normal Soldat modes obsolete. Most servers will probably be running this mode instead of the normal mode, due to people's requests.

Then again, it is only an idea for the future. :)

I like the idea of changing the team names. After all who among you can say that you are proud of being a member of the Alpha team? Exactly. Lol and the weapons. I'm not gonna touch that.

I KINDA like the customizability of the character, at the same time it's a bit lame, the gun idea is kinda kewl, but then you have a whole bunch of problems.. Kids whining about people cheating, noobs asking stupid questions, problems with weapon power and range/speed, all balance problems, good thinking though.. :)

Weapon editor:
If it was implemented, it would probably use a point system so you cannot fag the game up too much. Although it's not very necessary, a nice little addition.

Custom Characters:
I think that it is pretty much a minor thing considering the size of the characters. There is very little point in having a different shirt if you have a gun and dogtags covering it most of the time? The game is fast paced as well so no one would have time to look at it.

Although I have modded my character just because I am badass...

Big Boss (MGS3) mod. It's my version of the drawing of him I did for my avatar. :)

Here's my idea... Banners.

If you've ever played Continuum/Subspace you'll probably know about these. Basically very small icons that you can design that sits next to your name. I think it would be nice to implement it either on the score list or under/above your soldat guy. Maybe when you hover over them when it shows their name?

Why does so many assume that guns could be tweaked to the extremes?
Take the MP5 for example:

Normal:
Bullet start speed = 15.83
Bullet start power = 22.8
Bullets/Sec. = 10
Reloading = 1.75 sec.

Full Power:
Bullet start speed = 16.62 (+5%)
Bullet start power = 23.94 (+5%)
Bullets/Sec. = 8 (-20%)
Reloading = 2,1 sec. (+20%)
Better accuracy (straighter shots, smaller bink effect)

Minimal Power:
Bullet start speed = 15.04 (-5%)
Bullet start power = 21.66 (-5%)
Bullets/Sec. = 12 (+20%)
Reloading = 1.4 sec. (-20%)
Lesser accuracy (more spray, greater bink effect)

You say "Why would these damn barret assaulters chose more power when it's always 1-hit-kill and bullet always travels faster than any human can react too?"
Well first of all, the formulas would most likely be different from gun to gun. The lesser accuracy would also make it harder to hit with a low-power Barret.

I'm sure it could be balanced somehow.

Ravey

I'd probably make the worst gun possible just to see what it's like. The lowest accuracy, damage and speed I could set... *Fires the gun and the bullet drops on his foot and explodes*
