Well it keeps playing in WinAMP, and winamp doesn't play videos so how can I change it to something that can actually show the video?

An sdm file? You play it in soldat, just write it's name in (excluding .sdm) and Bob's your uncle. Or use Diamond DP.
If you mean the .avi or other video file type default program, go to the Control Panel, Folder Options, the File Types tab, then find what extention you need and set it up in the Change... button. This will work well.
