Weapons Editor Features

Ok, so I think we should have a master list of all the (possible) features we want for the weapons editor.

So there's the basics:
-Bullet start speed
-Bullet start power
-Bullets/Sec
-Reloading
-Ammunition

Here are some options I thought of:
-Bullet stays (like arrows from the bow, could be used to make a harpoon gun or something.)
-Multiple Projectiles (for shotgun type weapons or dual wieldings, number of projectiles should be defined)

So post features that you think would be useful for the weapons editor.

penetration (ruger + barret go through people)
warm up to firing (like the minigun takes a second to fire)

It will all have to be done, so that theres perfect balance....quick question: Will it be specific servers with weapon editor, or will you be able to edit your own gun which you take to different servers. One hella customised gun thats yours and yours only.

Perfect balance is not possible. Don't think about it as a balance tool only. Think about it as a tool for mod makers. Of course it has to be server specific.

- ricochet angle - max angle of ricochet
- spray angle - how much the bullets spread

I'm pretty sure that server admins will use a mod file that they made or downloaded for their server. That file will determine the weapon values of the server.

I thought of a few more features:
-Explosive or not (size and range of explosion must be determined)
-Full Automatic/semi automatic/and maybe burst fire

All guns go through people if you are close enough so its really a bullet speed thing.

-type of weapon

like shotgun, sniper, autos, flamer, bow, dual pistol, minigun , rocket/grenade launcher, knife, chainsaw , ...

every type of weapon would have there own specific variables and animations

-muzzle flash position x,y
-Accurracy
-Ricochet All weapon the same or sepperate?

-firesound
-reloadsound
-spritename (for ingame gfx [spritename].bmp, [spritename]-bullet.bmp, [spritename]-shell.bmp, ... (depends on what type of weapon)

When the files arent found it will use the default images.

Here are some examples of the specific options:

shotgun
-pellets
-spread

chainsaw
-damage field (the 'field' that does damage x1,y1,x2,y2) Should be a limit on it :p

minigun
-spin up time

knife
-Throw power

minigun could be placed under autos by adding spin up time to autos

I think creating some general types of weapons like "minigun", "shotgun" etc is bad idea. Much more powerfull and flexible would be a large set of properties. For example differences in the properties between shotgun / minigun are:

-weapon-ammo: (7 / 100)
-weapon-reload-type: (shotgun-like / automatic)
-weapon-reload-time: (2.91 / 6)
-weapon-startup: (0 / 0.83 sec)
-weapon-recoil: [recoil of player, not crosshair]: (1 / 20) [rough estimate]
-weapon-shot-type: (single / automatic)
-weapon-shot-delay: (0.5 / 0.08) [time between single shots, rough estimate]
-weapon-spread-angle: (10` / 15`) [rough estimate]
-bullet-spead: (11.66 / 24.16)
-bullet-damage: (18.19 / 15.95)
-weapon-name: (Spas-12 / XM214 Minigun)


And I don't think there should be any limits.

There is no reason to think that every or even most serves won't have standard settings.

I say make the weapon changer for SOLDAT 1.0.5.

Think of it, noone with make thier own weapon then hack into a server someway and use it. Noone will have gay "18 million nades" servers, and you wouldn't have to worry about other online exploits. Also, Classic Soldat is less advanced, making it a little bit easier on the weapon changer makers life.

Just my two cents.

Seems like you haven't seen the various cheats for Soldat 1.0.5b
Back then it was even worse.

Tell you what would be nice in the next version, The option to see the Weapon Mod name. This means that famous ones will get recognised and people could just give crazy names to there mods.

Might I suggest...

Weapon spray angle(proning)
Weapon spray angle(crouching)
Weapon spray angle(standing)
Weapon spray angle(moving)
Weapon spray angle(airbourne)
Weapon spray angle(airbourne & moveing)

This way I could make Barret as accurate as a hot carrot when in air, meaning no more barret assaulters, leaving only the not-as-horrible campers and snipers still effective.

Bullet penetration is related to the power of the gun...I cranked up the ruger to do the power of an m79 in one hit, and it shoots through multiple players.
