The currect soldat icon is great, except it looks like [IMAGE] when you enlarge it. I've searched on the web for soldat icons, but all i can find is screencaps and peoples sig banners.....

I decided to try and create a new icon, but its harder then i thought.


My first attempt was this :

Crude and upfront about what it was. It was a soldat icon, and it was better quality then the original, but it was STILL ugly !!

Then i sat down and thought about what made soldat, what was an icon that would mean SOLDAT! Quake3, unreal tournament, they all have cool symbols, but soldat doesn't :( (yet!)

So soldat doesn't really have something to stand for it, except screen caps and so forth, which was just a varient on my original idea.

Finally i thought about the weapons, and what weapons where famous and important to soldat (and ones that i could draw, yet still look good).

Making the chainsaw only took a few hours, and then a grenade to balance the picture, completed it.

So i whipped together a fancy background, and HERE IT IS:

So yup, thats my take on the soldat icon. Maybe other users have their own ideas. Maybe you will be the one that designs the perfect high quality soldat icon... Maybe together we can come up with something awsome to share our love for soldat accross the world...

or maybe i'm just raving because i've been awake for more then 20 hours designing icons, you decide.

I did try to do a search but is still doesn't work.

(honestly, i go away for half a year, and the search button is still broken :D )

After looking at those logos, it looks like logo needs and icon needs are rather different, so perhaps we can keep looking...

two logos that would be suitable as icons are:

Basically what you need for an icon is a 256x256 pixel high quality graphic (.png is best)

and the design should still be visible when scaled down to 48x48 pixels.

i like the one directly above this reply.
i'd like to see that one as the new icon any day.
what program did you use to make that?
photoshop, paint, ...?

i didn't make it, liquidis x snake made it using paint.

I'll have a go at turning it into an icon, as i also think it rocks
