in avi format(ex. top screen)

GIF Movie Gear. I think if you open the .avi file up, you can still save it as .avi. Just find the crop button in animation tab, then it'll edit all the pics. I think I helped ^^

But i needed to extract the movie to bmp then?
I did the movie using fraps

then edit it using fraps.

I'd love to see how you'd do that with a screen capture utility, paramud.

Google for VirtualDub. It's free and does exactly what you want to do. Use "direct stream copy" for the video settings.
