Well on Sunday i ordered a new graphics card, a radeon 9550 256 mb because i am poor. and the system needed an upgrade. anyways, it comes earlier today, and i get all excited about it. when i install it and run dxdiag to make sure it was the rright product, lo and behold it turns out to be a 9600 XT 256 mb!!!! I am one damn lucky [IMAGE] =D

awesome.
kind of like me when i got my nintendo ds...
when i pulled it out of its box, i was like,
"whoa! 2 screens! revolutionary!"
so how much of a difference is there between a 9550 256 mb and a 9600 XT 256?
how much smoother will it make playing soldat :P

If that's true then you got a card that's at least 1.5 times faster than the 9550.

Tell me where you ordered it from, maybe I'll get lucky too.

Or maybe for some strange reason, the item you ordered was a prototype weapon that when you run for the thousanths time, explodes and screws your computer up badly so you will never use it again. Or it could just be a switched order. Or maybeee, halfway during shipment, the postal guy mixed packages.

They probably just ran out of 9550s so they upgraded your order.
Happened to me before.

a 9600XT with 256mb ram is useless because its GPU can only handle 128mb.

Most ATI graphic cards have the same chipset anyway, they just have different clock speeds.

For example:

Radeon 9800 Pro performs at a lower clockspeed than the Radeon 9800 XT, but most models feature the exact same chipset.

Which is why I got a Radeon 9800 Pro, and now I have an XT. Hardeeharhar har.

I just had a thought, haha, you probably recieved the better card because it was returned previously. That's what they did to my friend. He got a used Creative Soundblaster Live!, he ordered it directly from Creative and they sent him a used one that didn't work, and they wouldn't take it back either.

Once upon a time I was one of those kids who actualy understood this crap.
Ofcourse that was when I bought my 8mega Expert card + a different 4 mega FX card (ATI ofcourse)
OH the good old days..

and before that I had an AT with 1 mega RAM.
:)
It was the pwnage back then 'cause I had the 1.2inch which were TEH bomb compare to the 360k lame disks...
and well back then the 20mega HD were way to advanced so I didn't have one :S

MEEEEEHHH!!!
