CS Mappack by Avarax (V 2.0)

Maps Included:

ctf_cs_assault
ctf_cs_office (NEW)
ctf_de_aztec
ctf_de_cbble (NEW)
ctf_de_dust
ctf_de_train


Changes from original map versions:

dust:

- remove the small walls on on the sides of the roofs from the red house so blue snipers on the small blue house can snipe enemy snipers better.
- add a secret room under that will help blue team since red is stronger on dust.
- replace the big bunch of crates in the left red base corner so reds cant hide and wait for enemy flaggrabbers.
- fix the small slope poly in front of the small blue house.
- more jet


train

- improve optics
- pull all trains slightly higher so shooting under the trains is easier
- put red spawns more to the left so they can rush quicker (red HAS to rush if you want the fun to begin on train)
- fix a small optical glitch
- try to avoid the scenery bug that many people have on assault and train


assault

- slightly more jet
- put red spawns more to the left so they can rush quicker

- make climbing up the red building easier on the right side
- fix the bouncy truck
- put blue spawns in a posotion where they cant rush that well but encamp in the building and on the roof


aztec

- fix through shootable wall in red building
- set the solid crates to "normal"
- remove colliders in the water under the middle building
- delete some scenery where there is enough and add some where some is needed
- make secret way easier to access, faster to go trough (ice prone sliding instead of platform to platform jumping ;D) and make it also accessable to red
- put some trees in reds spawn :)


office

- fix slightly bouny poly at blue spawn
- make the roof snow covered and icy
- make the snow covered ground icy
- remove some colliders in the upper part of blue building
- fix the bug that u can go trough the window of red building with some speed
- pull red spawn a bit back so blue can get in position before red rushs.


cbble

- add a secret healing pad in top of the higher tower

Although I'm not a fan of CS, I must say that these maps are great.
There is very good attention to detail and excellent colour choices.

EDIT-
I tested out all the maps I didn't have previously, I only found one real problem. In assault, the top of the truck is really bouncy, It could be really annoying since it's right by the flag.

Oh yeah, the way you layer scenery over polygons looks really awesome, like on the buildings in assault, train carts in train, and stone blocks in aztec.

These are awesome maps! I especially like de_dust and cs_assault! I just found just one tiny problem with them, though: In de_dust, in the red spawn area, all the bots like to jump up to those landings and just hop around without doing anything.

Thanx for the nice feedback. i tried to fix that bouncy truck by replacing and forming the poly over and over again but the harder i tried, the more i realized it wont be fixed at all :(
I think its going to be hosted on the -:TA:- Realistic Survival Server...

I love this mappack. Aztec has me tongue-tied. Lovely job, mate. I should get a CS mod then play this, and I would probably feel like im playing a 2d CS!

I despise counter strike, but these maps are very good. I played so many fun games on some of them before, the layouts are really good. One thing though: I think you should try making non-ctf conversions.. I know everyone plays capture the flag, but inf is fun too you know.

IMO cs_office should be a INF map.

and Mini Man, I made a version of Militia. I'm too lazy to link to it though :D

I like Aztec a LOT. Very good use of shading, and an impeccable layout.

i played cs maps before and it was much fun, especially in aztec. i forgot to post about it before so i put it now below.

the middle part is great. decoration of the blocks is sweet and well matched. they are also neat to be on. the huge structure's really fine as well, there's a good size of poly and scenery with a fine detail. wanna play this in the game mode with ^/command. nading are much fun indoors.

i thought i could go to the top of the huge structure. but if could it'd be impossible to return the flag so it seems proper as it is.

i just spend some more time on office, polygons are 80% ready, scenerying like 30%.

There is now a CS+Soldat Server by Terror Clan online hosting only my cs maps in realistic survival mode. its pretty neat :X

cbble looks damn good so far.

Hmmm It seems that I am having a little trouble with your maps... Train and Assault work fine if I start a single player game, but when I join a server with one of these maps it tries to download a bunch of scenery I already have, and then once I'm in the game the scenery is really screwed up. I thought it was just the server I played on, but when I tried those maps in a different server I had the same problem. All the other maps work fine, I don't know what is causing the problem >_<

i have this bug too :D
but i found an easy way to fix it. whenever you play the map just hit the windows button and then return to game, graphics will be reintegrated and then the maps look fine.



thx for the nice feedback. the screen only shows the basic structure of the middle part of cbble, there will be more scenery added soon when i finished structure and basic scenerying in general. the map is about 60% ready.

i'm having a problem where I can't log into a server that has the map running

After like 2 minutes of locking up, it tells me that the connection was accepted, but it wont let me in.

Other people are playing it fine, and I can play it solo, I just can't join the server

aight, i now finished working on ctf_de_cbble, check it out in the new maps section!
since this is done i will use my time now for fixing and balancing the older cs maps since theyve been on the fireground server for a long time now and i know every glitch on every map. when that is done ill rerelease the mappack with cbble and office in, all fixed.

i have this in mind for fixing right now:

A few suggestions for the next mappack update:
-In Aztec, far left at bravo base there are some green polys on the cliff that I think look rather ugly. Maybe change them to scenery or find away to blend them a bit with the cliff.
-In Dust, far right bravo base the pile of crates look rather bad, maybe make them nicely stacked.

italy is probably gonna be one of the better...it looks like avarax has had some trial and error with his earlier maps and might have gotten alot better with all thats happened...im hoping this will be a better map...good luck

no it isnt in the mappack yet.
when italy and chateau is done ill fix all older maps once again and balance and stuff, and then mappack v3.0 is released :P

italy about 25% done.

i also made some changes on ctf_de_dust already.
my goals are the following:
- make blue stronger by placing colliders on some chosen spots and giving them a small roof over their base (the red thing in screen)
- add slightly more jet
- advance optics
- fix wall bug in red building
- make hiders easier to see by making crates smaller or consisting of many crates on each other.

well, i am back from vacations but my graphic card is... broken :(
i think ill get a new one today. i am playing and doing stuff from my parents pc all the time but i havent got the map here and there's no beta of it online yet so i cant work on it.

Well after a long break from soldat (the whole summer...) i get back...and all the RS servers (save 2) are gone...probably with the arrival of 1.3....oh well....i hope they is back and im glad to be back ^_^

they are still there, and they now have scripts and stuff! type "!cmds" for commands.

Oh well... damn it...
i just bought a new graphic card BUT:
the old one still works. something else is broken. i guess its my harddrive :(
if thats true, all work on ctf_cs_italy was worthless because i have made no security copy of it...
i will try and fix it, i hope it's just the mainboard...

the problem is, or was, that the computer doesnt start AT ALL. immediately after booting i get a blue screen, but i will fix it very soon.

the BSoD (blue screen of death, it's a real computer term) must die (even though it's my desktop background).

well, i just bought a new mainboard and cpu and reinstalled windows, ctf_cs_italy is all well comfortable on my D:/ participation :D

k, 95% done just some scenerys missing.
this will also be the first map by me that is also waypointed by me, actually only one map by me has ever been waypointed (HHH) :O

i'll be using this banner i made of www.soldat2d.ru (the russian soldat community) in the map, atybrc asked me for that favor ;)

They seem so good, but how do I "install" them?
Since it didnt work to put the map-files into the map-folder, Screnary-gfx-files into the Scenary-gfx-folder and the Texture-file into the texture-folder.

So... how do I do?

well, usually THIS is how u do it o_O



and yes i will update the mappack. all older maps will be fixed and modified again and deagle5 and italy will be added.


the next map ill be working on is de_chateau or de_nuke...

as i said it isnt one scenery, its made off about 60-70 scenerys. thats because of the different transparencys i used.
i used these two scenerys, a simple white circle with slight texture effect and a simple short white line that i stretched for the sunray effect.
