I installed a fresh copy of 1.2.1 and everything runs fine EXCEPT when i play the game itself, it looks like this:

I have tried every setting (off & on) I can find in the config and reinstall a few more times for good measure but I have no idea what the problem is. Does anyone have ANY idea at all? It looks like it's playing in a wireframe mode of some sort. I know there's one in the editor, but this is in the unregistered demo!

My system:
AMD 1GHZ
MSI GF4000MX AGP 8x.
512MB RAM

Roll back your drivers to a previous version, usually 4x.xx or 5x.xx, or disable Anti-Aliasing. Visit http://www.nvidia.com and use their driver archives.

Also, remember that Soldat is shareware, so you can play the unregistered version as long as you like.

Then you have to roll-back your drivers to play. Not much else you can do besides trying different settings.

ive had the same problem on one of my machines. my geforce driver was sticking in an infinite loop occasionally so i upgraded the driver -> no textures, cant see in game text (but oddly enough a few players' names could be seen in the F1 table and kill console).
Time to make like the asda advert and rollback... but is this not a potentially nasty problem when ppl all go upgrading to the newest drivers?
just a thought, has anyone seen or experienced this with the latest catalyst or hydravision drivers?

the pc im running too is an amd 1200+ GHz, erm poop ive forgotten what the graphics card is :s err.. well its a 64 bit GeForce anyway... man i feel like ive been violated for forgetting that...

hey....i got that problem too...i've been searching for this topic for ages and finally found it. My soldat worked perfectly fine untill i installed a new graphic driver so my condition zero would work and then i tried opening soldat and it looked like that picture above....i could see the characters but not the surroundings...weird
so i uninstalled my new graphic driver and it went back to normal but then i can't play counter strike....can anyone know how i can make both games run perfectly fine!!!!!

As far as I know, the only solution to this problem for Soldat is either rolling back your drivers or disabling anti-aliasing, as I said above.

"Rolling back" means to 'roll back' to an older set of drivers. Basically, you want to use a previous or older set of drivers for your card.

For Windows 95/98/ME go here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/win9x_archive.html

For Windows 2k/XP go here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html

Just try different drivers until one works.

hey for all those ppl that come to this help topic and are new here i can help you...i got a nvidia gfoce256 grphic card...(i know it's crap) anyway if you have a good game e.g. condition zero and soldat, the soldat won't work if you dl the latest driver but condition zero will have good grphics while soldat will look like the pic above...i got help from Lapis Lazuli and now both of them work really good. Follow these steps in order to play both games perfectly
STEP 1 - Download an older grphic drver like 53.04....install that(now soldat will work fine but e.g condition zero won't work as good
STEP 2 - Download the latest drver for ur gforce card like 66.93
STEP 3 - Enjoy both games at peek performance without having soldat looking like the pic above
NOTE: These steps are for windows XP

To download later graphic drivers go to:
For Windows 95/98/ME go here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/win9x_archive.html

For Windows 2k/XP go here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html

why does it do this

This happens because of a change in Nvidia's driver set. Its not a problem with Soldat.

Since the problem has been solved here, elsewhere, and in the FAQ, topic locked.
