Have you guys ever seen someone have a ping under 16?
Is it even possible??
What does it take to get 0 ping? A good connection?
Please, dont make some post like, oh yeah! you can get 0 ping!

Well when people have 8mbit connection and playing on 100mbit server which is on same country it will be 16

Which brings me to another question, why are pings so "unexact", they always jump from 16 to 33 to 55 to 80 to 100 etc (not sure about the values). Would it mean that much more packet sending?

it only displays it every x seconds, but it's really fluxuating like a mother [IMAGE]ed, but you cant see it.

mine is like 30-60 on every decent server, i have 576k connection.

Only tme i seen it was when my friend had T1 and we were doing a LAN party... i won to :)

i have gotten 16ms ping from college to my servers at home (100mi away). the college her has low latency for just about anything near an internet backbone... OC-192 here :P

I've gotten pings of 0~16 in really good servers.

From 0 to 100 you can play normally.
Above 100, normal gameplay, some lag...
When ping is above 200, it's very difficult to aim, and players are not where you see them...

Well what you just said mar77a is more of an opinion than anything really.
Like you might be able to only play with pings up to say 200 or something but I could still play perfectly fine with pings of 350 or something like that. And someone else would struggle playing with pings over a hundred or something like that.
It's all about opinion, or what the player is used to playing with.

So what....im in malaysia and my ping hit 7 k once. Instakick. In fact, i couldnt even join........ That was when the streamyx connection lagged. Under 16 ping is impossible via internet.

Heavy Gear 2's netcode was horrible. Pings of 300 were pretty common, though the game never showed any real lag.

Also note, there was a series of weapons that would cause intense lag. Everyone's ping would shoot to 9999 and drop out. Surefire way to win a match if you were losing. =\

Me + Good East Asia server = ping 10

It happens. All you have to do is join a fast server in or near your country. You should also have a good internet connection. I, for an example have a T1 and i can join a British server all the way from here(Korea) to there with 300 ping.

Hmm...i have just a 1600 bit connection and i often have a 16 ping, sometimes i have 0, why? i dont know, maybe there is nothing between 16&0

Highest ping that I have seen was 9999, it was in a ??? server with lots of players... It can't go to 10000 right? :I

If one person is lagging, say 300 ping, and the person he is dueling with has regular, low 66 ping or so,who will have the more problem of killing? the one with lag, or the one with the low ping?

0-16 ping is easy. Just host a dedicated server on your computer, and then join your own IP. Simple. I do it all the time when I need to host in order to avoid the crazy hosting-bug that sends you flying across the screen.

I am pretty sure we are talking about non-lan based games. Getting a ping that is 0-16 all the time.
(host a dedicated server then. you won't get a host jump. at least i don't when i host a dedicated.)

i use to have 200-400 ping on dnagamees :\ it was the best soldat expierinece and i didnt find the ping to affect me that much?

my lowest is 16 ping and my highest is approx 3072 ping

A member of my clan have always 0-16 on french server ( he lives in belgium.. )

but sometimes his ping stay 0 ! 0_o, and no LAN

I have 0-16 ping on danish 100mbit servers, got 0,5mbit.

I have a mediocre connection.. lies on about 100 ping, sometimes less or more. lowest ive had is 0 when I was host :P

i normaly have around 100 or less ping on servers.. well it all depepends.. but yea, most time its less then 100, but it has been in the thousands.. and have got 0 quite a few times..
