(Posting for my friend Malka):

Did anyone ever figure out why soldatserver on linux spawns 5 processes? Or is that supposed to happen. I am pretty sure I have seen it where there was only 1...

root 27242 5.5 2.2 67184 23044 pts/1 S 03:11 0:00 /home/testsoldat/soldatserver
root 27243 0.0 2.2 67184 23044 pts/1 S 03:11 0:00 /home/testsoldat/soldatserver
root 27244 0.0 2.2 67184 23044 pts/1 S 03:11 0:00 /home/testsoldat/soldatserver
root 27245 0.0 2.2 67184 23044 pts/1 S 03:11 0:00 /home/testsoldat/soldatserver
root 27246 0.0 2.2 67184 23044 pts/1 S 03:11 0:00 /home/testsoldat/soldatserver

It does the same thing if I am using soldat guardian too.

Any ideas?

Only spawns 1 really. What Distro are you/is he using?

Redhat Enterprise 4. I prefere debian but this is what I am stuck with.

So are you saying that even though there are 5 separate PID's created, they all count as one? So its normal?

I dont know what the identical rows mean. The 2 of them that all have the same number; the 67184 23044 .

I see that only the first one uses CPU, but the other ones take up memory for all. Thats annoying.

Yes, the 5 processes are normal, there are many archived topics on this subject.
