That's because it's impossible to have avatar bigger than 90x90. (yes I know, mm's avatar is bigger.)

Not as attention grabbing as the orginals, but it definitely looks nicer.

Why do we want to reward rule-breakers?

Because the ones we have now are such a pain to look at.

The fact that people have to concentrate to read the text means that it will at least be read.

Actually, it has to do with compartmentalizing information in the brain. It's much easier to remember, associate, and recall a one syllable title for a person than it is to remember a whole mouthful of sounds. That's why nicknames, acronyms, and abbreviations are so popular.

My name is Mike, a one syllable word, but my entire school refers to me as Ledda, a two syllable word....OMG! I AM TEH EXCEPSHUN!
