Actually netscape is the best. Its just a better version of firefox.

Then try this:

if you guys use Firefox or mozilla for your internet browser then you can tweak it to go faster by following the directions. Its so amazing some of my friends showed me this and it does actually speed up your internet for firefox or mozilla.

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit
return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web
page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will
make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number
like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer.
Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to
"0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before
it acts on information it recieves.

Note that that only works on connections that are fast enough to provide said functions. Otherwise it seriously impairs your speed.

Also:

Microsoft releases its next-generation IE7 later this year which promises to be more secure.

That phrase there is enough to make me stick with FireFox. [IMAGE] you IE.

The one thing that drew me to Firefox was tabbed browsing and the pop up blocker :P now the pop up blocker dosn't do the same it use to... could someone recommend another browser please?

-=Edit
Tabs are a must

Cookie, it's all the porn sites you've been visiting. :P

Ever since I got Firefox I haven't had a sigle pop-up ad (or any other ad because of the adblocker).

Even though firefox has 'flaws' less people use it so less virus's are targeted towards it.

ha! take that
Last year IE had 4 extremely critical holes like this one and today it has still 19 unpatched security holes, 4 times more than Firefox. Opera is the most secure anyway ;)

Microsoft Internet Exploder 6.x: 64 holes, 19 unpatched

Mozilla Firefox 1.x: 16 holes, 5 unpatched

Opera 7.x: 35 holes, 0 unpatched

Opera 8.x: 0 holes so far

As far as I'm concerned, if they do it right the first time, then they're in the lead.

Internet Exploder, as you said: 64 holes;
Opera, 35 holes;
Firefox, 16.

Does it really matter?
I'm happy with IE, but then again, I've never used anything else...

I just use Safari, wich is Netscape I believe. I LOVE tabbed browsing, and the pop-up blocker works great for me.

Not only that, but since I'm forced to use IE at school, I hate it, all we do in Digital Design is made for IE and it pissees me off that my teacher doesn't mention to the class that some people have better resolutions/browsers, than crap IE and 1024x768.

No, Opera has 0 holes: http://secunia.com/product/4932/ so by your standards it's in the lead:D
But, seriously, unpatched holes matter.

If we talk about _patched_ holes, you must remember that MSIE 6.x was released 4 years ago, Opera 7.x was released over 2 years ago, and Firefox 1.x was released 6 months ago. It's obvious that Firefox will have the smallest amount, simply because it's much younger product. But it doesn't prove anything (look, Opera 8.x has 0 holes!). I'm not saying Fx is bad :>

What it all boils down to is what you yourself personally prefer. There is no "better" or "superior" browser.

Aquarius
May 11, 2005, 9:49 am
There is no "superior" browser, but the difference between Internet Exploiter and modern browsers (Firefox, Opera, Safari) IS significant.

Thirst of all, the modern browsers are more secure - viruses, spywares etc are only known from MSIE. The few Opera's or Firefox holes has never been used by hackers. MSIE has the biggest number of unpatched holes - 19, it's 4 x more than Firefox with lastest flaws. Opera and Safari have all their holes patched. Holes in modern browsers are generally less severe and patched much faster than in IE.

Second, IE wasn't updated for 4 years and it's really ancient technology now. It doesn't support pipelining, which makes page loading faster, it's lacking in the field of web standards (incomplete PNG support, incomplete CSS2 support, lot's of bugs in CSS1 and XHTML support, no SVG support), it has slower rendering - no progressive rendering, the slowest JavaScript...

Third, beczuse IE wasn't improved for 4 years, it has features from the previous century like home button, but no progressive search of history/bookmarks, no inline search, no tabs, no easy way to turn on/off graphics, no sessions, no RSS, no mouse gestures etc., the list is very long.

There is no superior browser, but there is one inferior browser.

In about a month after IE7 is released their are going to be tons of exploits, what is the difference?

Mozilla fixes the errors (not all the time), while most of the time Microsoft sits on their asses (once again not all the time). Also, many companies pay to get a positive opinion of their products before they are released, Microsoft could have done this.

Microsoft doesn't patch the stuff they release often, they just release the next one instead. Don't expect many updates by Microsoft.

The more popularity a product/browser reaches, the bigger the chance that someone discovers exploits or starts searching for them, as they can harm more people.
Firefox probably always had certain security holes, it's just that nobody discovered/used them.
IE is so popular that many people exploit it.
Now the real difference, as said before, is the fact that MS is too slow.

Or, in the same amount of time it took you to break the law and download this licensed commercial software for free, you could have headed over to Mozilla's site and downloaded Firefox or any of their other countless handy apps.

But if you'd like to have tabs for your software with more holes than Swiss cheese, then by all means, have fun with it.
