well, msot of you will not know me, because i have never posted (not counting this). but i have been a frequent visitor to this site. so suddenly this idea came into my head....WHY NOT I MAKE A MAP? anyway, heres how it turned out.

name: dm_penetrator
types: dm, tm, rm, pm
types the map was specially made for: dm
waypointed/botted: YES (though if anyone can improve it for me i would be glad)
time taken: 3 hours
map number: this is my first map

most of you would know that i took the light bulb from ratnest, the light itself from equinox, and the bottom tower looks a bit similar to battlefield dm. well the idea is completely different.

and obviously here is the overview:

please comment, and try it out. because as i realized myself, the map looks damn better in play rather than in the overview...

Wow, Looks realy good for your first map! It needs some shading though, besides that, good job

.. The overview isn't loading... People go mad if tehy can't see an overview :P

Looks nice, and as FM said, you could add shading to make it even better.

as a pro, veteran and a perfect mapmaker, i must say that this map needs a seriuos case of poly-smoothing.

i wouldn't call you PRO either, you have some good maps, i'd say the real pro is Chacapoko Maker / Grand_Diablo
map looks good, nice idea but needs shading

I like the scenery placement. But work on your poly placing and shading. Still nice map, a litle different from the other maps.

Good map, but i suggest the following:

1. Make a less box-ish map. Take Arena for example, it has barely any square areas, an dthat is what makes it a good map.
2.MAke the polygons thicker. As a general rule, thicker polygons make a map have a more solid feel.
3. Shading is a must if you want any recognition. Look around the forums for tuts on shading.

Hehehe..anyways...I don't much like the small openings on the map. They seem like they'd be more of a nuisance then an advantage

i tried shading it but the texture alwasy came over....i dont know how to do it.

He means to make all the jagged edges (like the border of the map) using smoother polygons or make it look smooth.

Well, I haven't tried it, but isn't poly-smoothing just making a bunch of small polys to make more rounded, smoothed-out edges?

It's a bit too cubey, and could use some more scenery and bacgrounds.

if you played using the map you will realize that actually the sharp polygons in the map are styled, so the sharp polys just improve the gameplay....so far the only fault i have been able to find with this map is that the bot waypointing isn't good. they get stuck. and yes polysmoothing is making more polys to make the shape smoother, but i dont want that. if you play it, you will see that i have placed the sharp polys is speciallized places to make it so that if you throw a grenade or use the m79 at the correct spot, you will either:
1)teleport
2)swipe out of the map
3)kill yourself (haha)
and i have tested each one, and it works.

so try it out, and you would see the difference.

Anyway, good (especially for your first map) but you need shading and poly smoothing - there really isn't a way to explain that.. it's self explanitory...

Shading should be a gradual change from light to dark for the surface-underground polygons; set them all to the same color, and use MapMaker Plus's manual shading method to smooth out the darkness.

hmmm, i might change it if i have the time, anyway, is silver hawk willing to waypoint it better for me?

anybody else tried the map?
anybody found out where you need to throw a grenade to go to special places?

thats an error with the soldat.exe not the .pms (map), actually, it was an error with the sceneries and bouncy polys. you can however snap out of it by pressing up and right click (jet). Also, you complained about how that problem keeps on getting you killed by spawn campers. that is derfinetly a lie, when you first respawn you are invincible for a short while, which will allow you to go away from the campers. the main people that get stuck the the map is the bots, but i have found out that adding several glitch bots (the black ones) into the game (they dont move at all but can steal your weapons, adding code is /addbot) will stop the normal bots from getting stuck at random places and will help you play.

i played this map and it was so bloody fun, secpecially pointing a law at a thin wall, causing whoever is standing on it to either fly away or just explode. also its fun to blow yourself through walls.

i love this map, especially with my "falling nuclear bomb" rain replacement.

yes. and try it with the rambo bow. i managed to warp from one end of the map to the other!

any another comments?
