I think after a post reaches a certain age of having no posts,it should be locked for everyone except the poster.That way the original creator of the topic can post or edit the main post to make it active,but this way it'll stop necro posters from ressurecting 3 month old posts.

i think thread makers should be able to delete and lock their threads. like sprocket's thread, you KNOW he wants that thing gone :D
