here's an idea i was thinking of while reading Rambo_6's most recent suggestion.

(map begins)

fade in from black for 1.5sec on a zoomed out map thingie with the beginning text already displayed (Deathmatch Started). player can't move.

do nutin for 1.5sec (that's a total of 3sec for map overview)

do a exponential zoom onto your player for 1sec.

0.5 seconds into the zoom, allow player to start fighting (so, wait 3.5 sseconds before starting a fight).

(map time ends)

show end stats, allow players to continue fighting on that map (stats won't be affected after 00:00) for 7sec.

fade to black for 3sec (players can still fight for fun while fading; total fight for fun time 10sec)

(go to next map)

okay, then. just have the map end effects. you have to admit, it would be fun to just kill each other for no reason for ten seconds...

If it is implimented, it should at least be a section in the options section where you can specify exactly what effects you want.

dude, you make it sound like a movie script.

how about standings in the beginning, FADE IN, gameplay, FADE OUT, and standings in the end?

Why is everyone saying no to this? I thought this was a good idea...
