Well, My first map, ctf_Cathedral, was my first map and I am happy taht it was met with suck high appraisals. However, that was more of a showcase of some of the capabilities of Polyworks, and really wasn't meant to be a serious map really. This is my first serious map project, using some new techniques and combining them with something some of you might be familiar with...

I present to you:

ctf_Piranesi. I hope you can recognize that this is the CT base, which will serve as alpha teams spawn. My plans for this map are that the location of the flags and the spawn of each team will have a considerable distance between em, so killing people on the way to the flag actually has uses :o. There will be minimal jets on this map. It is going to be optimaized to be very aesthetically pleasing while still retaining the core tactical gameplay from the orginal CS map.

Work on the tops of the turret, they look a little bland (or something). Are you going to try two textures with this, though? Everything else looks great, but not quite.. Soldat-ish, but I still like it. Gah, damnit, I need to learn how to use Polyworks, and fast.

It may not look soldatish, but hey, not every soldat map have to be "ugly" (compared to these maps ^^)
So fear the PW-revolution, i hope more and more maps will come out like this one ;)
And i want to see this in game as soon as possible!

I think this is one of those maps where you put more effort into scenery then you do into gameplay...

Which is why I have my doubts about this map

OH MY GOSH!!!

Still, I agree with _Mancer_. I'd rather see glamor pics. of mods with soldaten of them on maps like these than actually playing them...

Tis a piece of art! DAMN YOU PS31, WHY WONT YOU STOP MAKING COOL MAPS?

I'd rather explore it than fight in it, but it does seem easy on the eyes.

@Mancer: I assure you that gamplay on this map is my top priority and I am doing all I can to make sure it is fun and balanced. But, other maps have done that in the past, so I am going to go a step further and make it looks good as well. At least I'll try.

@Leo: Didn't you think Cathedral had good gameplay? Please give me some ideas as to how to improve on my map.

@Keron: I can add some in game screens. Maybe that will help to change your mind.

@117: Cause I don't feel like it. Biatch.

Thanks for the comments, and stay posted cause this will update regularly until the final stages of the map's production.

I'd love to see soldat having more realistic maps, but I know during online game it will lag like a (Please refrain from swearing) (Please refrain from swearing).

@Lapis: haha, OMG NO!! MY MARROW!! Where have all my red blood cells gone!?

@117: Well, as long as there is still demand for stuff like this, I will try to continue supplying for it.

@Ninj@: We talked about this. I said I would try once this is done. I promise to make at least an earnest attempt. In the meantime, try getting a new video card taht doesn't lick balls so much.

@karmazon: Yeah, it's going to lag like a (Please refrain from swearing). But, if things like half life 2 can run smoothly online, then sooner or later, the netcode for soldat will be enough to run this online as well. wait until version 2.0.1, where people are complaining about vehicle campers and how they get bugs with havoc physics models passing through water surfaces and causing ragdoll lag.

The only part that I don't like about this map and cathedral is that it looks like they are just floating. You should build up the outer parts of the map with scenery so that you cant see the bottom or the sides of the background. I don't know how well I explained that, but I can show you if you want. I think it would "complete" these maps.

i hope we can host this on atybrc and mine cs RS server when it's ready. ;)
@Mancer: i think i also put more effort into looks in my cs maps, and still, they always play very well, they just play different

the left one of the trees looks kind of merged, better give it more width :)
