I wanted to host a climbing maps server. I opened all the right ports for the router (I have a wireless Linksys router, laptop is using wireless card, main comp is connected to the router).

I started the server on laptop. I asked few people to test it, but they couln't get in and I didn't see anybody requesting either. I then
tried to host on my main computer, which works fine, people can join/download maps and so can I. But because hosting and playing on the same computer causes lag I'd still like to host on laptop. Any help?

if 192.168.1.100 is the IP of your laptop then it should work.

Oh right 100 is mine, 101 is my laptops, at least I think. I tried changing that before I posted, still, nobody could join.
Hmm..Is there a way I can tell for sure, what's the local ip of my laptop?

Start -> Run -> "cmd" -> "ipconfig"

Look for the line where it sais your IP.

Hope it helps :)

192.168.1.101 is the ip of my laptop, I can see the server in the lobby and join it, but others can't. I don't see anyone requesting either.

Could you tell me what IP it gives in the lobby?

People would need your external IP-adress to join your laptop game. This IP should normally be shown by the lobby.

Internal users (in the network) should use the local IP (192.168.1.101 in your case) to access it.
