Haha, we don't know, really. I think it was FabmanX2000 who said he liked to call it the "bink effect" while we were beta testing 1.2.1, and Michal said something like "Bink, huh? I like that."

Actually, it was da.arC who said we should call it bink effect.. but other than that, the description of the events are precise.

why not "bink?"

Because in Counter-Strike (might just be source), if you were to be hit in the head and not die, your aim would sometimes be jolted in a direction. At least, I think that's it.

Yeah, and of course, the sound made would sound something like "bink."

So it's purely based off of the seeming sound effect that you hear when a bullet strikes your helmet?

We don't really know. We've never questioned it. Unless arC himself can tell us, we can only assume.

i can only imagine the level of boredom one would have to be experiencing in order to question something as insignificant and miniscule as this.

Bink is a bench? Heh, well, I GUESS being smashed by a bench would lower your accuracy. Then again bink in other languages could mean disruption or confusion.

Anyway, unfortunatley I haven't seen arC play for ages (since early-mid 1.2.1), and that could mean he moved to some other interest. Of course it could mean he doesn't frequent on the servers I do anymore, but you never know.
