Does anyone else seem to play better personally when they have a better team? Ive noticed when I play against good players on an enemy team and im on a team full of idiots/campers i play poorly because it seems like I have to do it all, score, defend, and penetrate but then when I play with players like mancer my game boosts up extreme cus they do stuff like m79 boost you or dont leave you stuck with insane odds (3 to 1) ive played alot and have seen barretards run away leaving me to go toe to toe with 3 or more enemies :/

Yeah, other team mates that are good will stick together, and not run for the flag in a crazed attempt to score. They will think selflessly and protect the flagger, instead of waiting for the flagger to be killed and the flag to be returned so they can snatch it.

And slowly we fall into the discussion of what makes a better player..

individual skill, ie: a perfected aim, ability to take on multiple enemies, ninja-like dodging skills...

or team play, eg: complimenting a players choice of weapon with your own, sticking together, acting as decoy, escorting and covering, self sacrificing, etc..

What...both? yeah if you're finnish maybe.

Lol, I'd sacrifice myself. I normally run into the middle to discourage others from shooting the flagger. Sometimes i will go point blank and run in front of an enemies aim and just bounce around, blocking him from shooting.

Other words, im a human meat shield.

Individual skill is better for team match, cos ppl dont go around in groups.

Oh you mean like the times you're the only damn one going for the flag? Yeah, having a bad team sucks.

Well yes offcourse. Soldat isn't all about shooting. It's about making decisions. And that comes through experience. Offcourse a good aim matters but where to jump, when to wait, when to go, what to do. That all makes up a good portion of every soldat game. That then applies to teamwork. A bunch of less skilled players can take your clan on and win if they have a bit of luck and better teamwork. Offcourse luck is always a factor unfortunately, or fortunately. Depends what happens to who :)

Exactly like just a few minutes ago I was playing around in a server with a team full of tards who would not cap when they had flag they would just sit there but thats not what I am talking about I mean when you have a crappy team then its like you vs the whole other team. When you have a good team then your not doing all the work so you are doing better but playing on a crappy team will probably up your skill as you will be taking on multiple enemies / having to return flag / score for your team etc but yeah I do better on a team with only a few idiots.

on u13 last night my team sucked so we lost everytime even though the teams were 6-4. like me and some other guy were capping the flag but there were tons of barretts and m79 everywhere so like when we just cap the flag we get blown up :) everyone else on our team kamped

A fine example of teamwork is a 2v3 i had in gather. We both had each others flag, so I pinned their entire team into their base, the two without the flag distracted by my proximity and trying to remove me as they jumped out.
Meanwhile, my flaggy dude slides in from the top and whoops their flaggy with an m79 while i'm taking care of the other two jumping out of their base.

So yeah, he got the flag back, cleared the way back to base, and beat them 2v3. Teamwork and brains will win over brawn.

to me its when i have a (Please refrain from swearing) team that lets the upper way enemies get the flag every time therefore me having too chase efc.. giving the lower way free.. then losing more caps. Pisses me off something terrible, I need good team mates to have a good game, but I can win games myself at alt route... but its alot about timing. Sometimes its better not too kill, than too kill. And until you understand that ! you are behind me :D.

Yeah, I guess I have noticed how crappy you play when you're up against a decent team, with your own team, well...crap. 50% of the time when I land on a crappy team though I usually bring it back into the game lol. Then everyone is like, "WTF" when they see the score 6-2 jump to 8-6. Sometimes when i help my team make a major comeback, we still lose, but when it was like 7-0 we come back 8-6. Other times, my team is SO horrible, and the opponents were fighting are too good to do this single handedly we just lose. Badly. :)

I saw that having a better team helps me do much better in many games, including Soldat.

With a better team at your side, the enemies are less of a threat, and with heightened confidence and sense of unition/cohesion you are able to use your abilities.

Yes, it definately helps if you've got good teammates, it makes you better, and you can let them do all the work :)

I never pay attention to my team, when I am actually seriously playing, I am like "zoned out" into the soldat world :P Also, I keep my score stats off, seeing yourself as first usually compels one to hold that place, and they try hard and die..

Playing games is all about your mental focus and concentration.
I play way better when no-one I know is playing in the server, but I play HORRIBLY when I am infront of someone I think is important. Also, I am playing much worse because I keep getting distracted in the new update, my knifes not working, and my ruger "clock" is off. So I find myself hating it, and digging my hole deeper. This just goes to show that you shouldn't care what others think!

Good teamplay, a player who has good teamplay on one side can be the difference in winning or losing. I think that a good teamplayer can help make his whole team step it up and play at their best

Guys, could you pleeease tell me, where can I find a server, where players act as a team ? The best of teamplay I have ever seen on public servers were messages like 'EFC UP!' and 'INCOMING DOWN!' -)))

Dont care. Its all about the team games that turns me on.

Hmm...

Personally I like supporting more than capping flags. I usually do alot to protect our FFC. Hell, I've taken many damned m79 grenades, laws rockets, and railgun...err...barret bullets just for the flag carrier. I would sometimes give out free bodyguard service (which I never get -_-)

Im usually the guy in ctf who holds onto the flag for everyone, or flies in for support in catching the flag and provide as a distraction. Sometimes ill just fly in and unleash some uber pwnage upon everyone and score. XD

Unless you're some sort of Soldat god, it seems to me that teams make the defining difference when it comes to CTF. Personally, if I'm on a team where the average skill level is very low, then it reflects poorly on me. This is especially true on one-hit-wonder servers where everyone uses either the M79 or the Barret. It ends up being an accomplishment to get past your spawn point, and before you can get off enough shots to kill with a weapon, your head is taking a vacation from your neck.

Mind you it can be nice to be on the dominating team of highly skilled and organized players, but it's most fun when it's even. I love finishing a match at a final score of 5 to 6 or something with the last cap being a breakneck-speed roll through the base at 0.42 seconds. It seems that I get far too many of the latter of these two types of servers, but fortunately there are people who play at regular times and on regular servers that I try to stick with, and that's better than nothing.

Perhaps someone should develop an upper level server. Something that has "Pro Soldat" or something in the title. That's the worst implementation ever, but still it's a nice thought. The idea of a superior player server is something that makes my mouth water. Someone should figure something out. Not that I'll contribute, seeing as how I'm a lazy American with no motivation.....^_^
