does soldat have a weekly article where it deals with good judgment in soldat? this article could entail a discussion on a particular situation and the solution to dealing with it.

we have this in soccer magazines too.

example:

in ctf_run, you just spawned at red and are running along the top. you spot one alpha with your FFC running mid, being chased by two bravo people. you also see the EFC with an escort running away along the bottom. Do you:

chase the efc? cover the ffc? panic and run back and forth?

It's impossible to answer this question, it's to vague.

Your ffc should always be the main priority. Dont forget: The other team can't score if you have their flag.

At first I'd kill the two bad bravo guys chasing my ffs. Then I'd head to the enemy base, just to get my head shot by some happy barret camper :p

Support the friendly flagger. Your chances against the efc and escort are lower, and you probably wouldn't be able to catch up anyway, the way most maps are.

I'd chase down the EFC, because I hate it when both flags are at enemy spawn and it takes half the game for one to score because of too many people protecting the flag.

Didn't Karmazon post something like this a little while ago?

Notify my team where the efc was leaving from while protecting my own flagger, when own flagger safe I would head for the efc.

Yeah, they may not be able to score when YOUR team has the flag, but you cant score when they have the flag. My solution: Leave the flag in the hands of a capable ffc and spread the team out to clear any incomings and attempt to retreive the flag.

it all depends on how good your team is, if they are noobs dont waist time pwoning them but if your team is mininoobs and campers then i would leave the game

I'd make sure that all bravo team members were dead and then switch to alternate paths as i approach thier base to take out their flagger.

I think that is a bad idea because there are 2 people on that ffc and he more than likely wont be able to take on two people alone, if they have any skill.

The way I see it, if the ffc is good, he can take down 1. If the whole team is focusing on taking out the efc, some will die, and 80% of the time they respawn right there to make a finishing blow on the enemy.

Also, a GOOD team would be able to kill or injure any incomings, and would know to tell the ffc where they're coming from so the ffc can prepare. This is usually what I get when im an ffc anyways, and having a good team is great to have.

Anyways, this is slightly off topic considering this thread is about the instant the moment happens when the 2 efc's are close, rather then when theres a stand off to return your team's flag.

The logical thing to do in this situation is to help out your FFC. There would be a greater chance of killing the two enemy players with the help of your FFC than trying to take out the EFC and his escort alone.

whats the EFC and the FFC?

EFC= Enemy Flag Carrier
FFC= Friendly Flag Carrier

The answer depends largely on where you are on the map in relation to everyone else, and your momentum.

[IMAGE]

In A, the most natural choice would be to assist the FFC. You could either glide through the opening on the right, or stop, change direction and drop down in the opening to the left. Attacking the EFC is still a possibility but would be more risky.

In B, the position favors attacking the EFC. Helping the FFC is more difficult: dropping down the cramped opening to the left would not work, because your momentum is in the opposite direction and changing directions would slow you down too much; the opening is additionally awkward to slide through. Dropping down to the right, then changing directions and pursuing from behind would also not work, because it'd be too hard to catch up to them. If you stay on top but turn around and try to gain momentum in the opposite direction, intending to drop down a different opening further down the road, too much time would pass and your flagger would probably be dead by then (or, since they'd be closer to your base, a teammate who just spawned would help and your efforts would be in vain). So the best choice would be to maintain your momentum in the same direction and attack the EFC.

Obviously, there are infinite other possibilities...

depends what weapon are you using, do you have nades... barrett + 1-... nades- EFC, auto + 0 nades- FFC
In the case A you can get both by killing one enemy near FFC and then run to take down EFC

Snowden, remember, we can't see all of the map, so we have to rely on team chatter. i suggest that one dude who spawned has to do the recon work. Otherwise, it's like flying blind.

To actually answer your question, we do get the occasional "what do you do" topics every now and then. They soon get flooded with a variety of opinions, as you can see.

Always. Even if the EFC and FFC could be seen on the monitor simultaneously I'd always defend the FFC first.

yes chakra, flood.

someone post another hypothetical situation in which the right choice isn't always clear!

snowden i love your diagram. just the way i imagined it would look like!
