If you are making maps with "GIMP" they need to be indexed, to do that make sure there arent any layers, and then go to IMAGE then go to "MODE" and click on "INDEXED", a pop up with alot of different options will show, i just leave it all alone and click "OK" then save it and yer all done!!!!

most pics yea edit on gimp arent indexed therefore soldat wont accept it, ya gotta index it, the tip i showed is what i do to get it to take it.
