Midi sequencing software

So my birthday is coming up, and I'm looking to get some nice Midi software for composing, recording, arranging, etc...
I already know a fair amount about this sort of thing, but don't have any software for it. I'm looking at a program called Reason, one called Cakewalk, or Ableton Live, or Acid...I mean, hell, there's a bunch of them, and I'm sort of torn.
Anyways, just wondering if you guys had any experience in this field, or maybe some advice.

Eh... search for audacity on google.. thats a free music editor.. thing..

Sibelius is good, but it's expensive. But it's good.
Edit: Seems like it's in the same price range. It's based on staves, if that's the kind of composition you're used to.
