How doth they vorketh? Why is there a fire-bar-r.BMP and why doesn't the reload bar fit my interface's outline for it even though it's the correct pixel size it should be to envelop it? Does it use a different image when coming back to the right than when it is left?

fire-bar-r is the background for the fire bar, if you choose not to implement the fire bar background in the ammo background. i would suggest no using fire bar r, because what you can do with it is rather limited.

try playing around with the placement of the background. dont touch the bar itself tho, unless you move it VERTICALLY. NEVER move the bars around HORIZONTALLY.

You're talking about health.BMP which has the whole interface outline, right? Yeah, I'm trying it out vertically.

AFAIK, ilum is the glow whn you pick up the flag, that tells everyone "ZOMG EFC THERE GO TO KILLZ HIM OLOLOLOL"
