But yeah, it's pretty much impossible to guess. And you'd have to decide whether you meant people who play it regularly, or people who've played it at least once. I know a bunch of people in my school who play it, which is kinda wierd because in my old place nobody played Soldat, so it's obvious that some places have more that play than others. Perhaps we could get a census board together to knock on doors.

My mirror has about 2500 downloads a month. Might help forming an image of how many players play.

Im guessing a 2-3,000 - ROUGHLY but thats just my guess, and what im most confident with. Im most likely wrong, but I dont see many of you taking guesses. ;o

500k? Are you crazy? I think it would be more like 3000-5000. If by "soldat players" you mean people who play soldat reguarl basis. If you mean people who have tried soldat, it's alot more. Almost every gamer seems to know about it when I ask around, and I even see people play it during lectures.

It also seems like there is a lot of communities no one knows about. Just recently I talked with delici0us and he said that there's a huge brazilian community and I was thinking "O__________o".

500,000 seems pretty high, even for semi-regular players. I'd expect about 10,000 to 50,000 people play Soldat at least once every two weeks, but I just made that up on intuition.

Don't kid yourself about the Soldat community being "famous." There are games ten times as popular as Soldat whose communities are largely ignored by outsiders.

ok, so maybe 500.000 is a bit too much, but make no mistake - more people play than what seems obvious..
And as said further above, it has alot to do of where u are.
fx. in denmark i guess there is about 400 players at most(likely less), but in finland theres quite alot more.. i dare not guess, but u actually see pretty many who has [FIN] in their name..
argh, what? maybe a couple of thousands, and the population in denmark is about the same as in finland..(just about 5 or 6 million)

also look at FLAB's(u don't mind, do you) img above. and that's just when the 130 came. as i see it, many don't even play 1.3.0, so it really is alot!

so that maybe 2/300 in denmark playing! let's say 200 to just be sure.
Dernmark has a population of 5.800.000 people:
200players / 5.800.000ppl x 100% = 0,0034(...)%
The earth has over 5billion people(5.000.000.000)
5.000.000.000ppl / 100% x 0,0034% = 17.000players.

this number is probably more like 25.000players...

Although I don't mean to be a smart arse, your estimation is quite poorly conducted, considering that most of the world don't own a PC or even have internet access. There is no way there is more than five/six thousand Soldat players who play on a regular basis (regualr basis being once or twice a month).

If you are talking about how many people have played Soldat in the past atleast once or twice, then the number would quite easily go above ten thousand, but most definately not more than 20,000.
A good estimate on the total popluation of active Soldat players would be about 2000~5000 players.

It's impossible to count up the entire Soldat players around the globe. It will lead to miscalculation and the total number eventually changes every second.

theres not even 1 million people playing counter strike, the most popular online game.....cept it kinda sucks

well i was bored so
i went from server to server looking for member of this forums, while recording how many players were not. i found one in enesce's server and recorded 51 players that were not. so from this information it can be estimated that there is a ratio of 51:1

So... 401 pages of members, 21 members a page
401x21 = 8421
ratio of 51:1
8421x51 = 429471

so it can be safley estimated using this infromation that the number of players is around 429471 players.

Personally this is how I would look at it. Most of the time, there is around 450-500 people in the lobby. At the peak times there is around 600+, and around the low points there is usually less than 350. I would say the average is around 450 at all times in the lobby. Now the average soldat players plays what? maybe 10 hour per week(my estimate). do 450 multiplied by 168/10 and it comes out to about 7600 ish. Thats my estimate on soldat players that play 'regularly', by regularly I would say atleast once per week

Average -_-, There are some peopel that play like 15 hours, then others who play like 5 hours a week.

i do like 1 hour a fornight XD, yeah i knew my estimation was based on faulty information but its a good estimation none the less, for it to become more exact maybe the act of taking the information should be done multiple times and averaged (when fiding the ratio)

so, it between 5k and 500k?.. well, what a narrow perspective :D

no way is there 500,000 or even close I doubt you can even find 1,000 in a server search with all of the servers combined.

I'd say we are 25% of everybody thats ever played it, 50% of people that have played it since 1.3 and 75-85% of common players. However, we are at least 99% of all good players.

my guess would be the loyal "pro" fanbase who plays often and supports the community during a longer time to be quite small, under 1000 worldwide. Casual game hoppers population could be higher but probably vary more from time to time, impossible to guess since its a free game.

yeah.. also we have to consider those who just downloaded, but stopped playing after a week...
