I think I've found some kind of magical limit to the amount of sceneries you can have in a map, 500, exceed that limit and you won't see scenery # 501, 502, 503 etc. etc. In addition, all kinds of crazy [CENSORED] can happen, like a giant invisible collider in the middle of your map that only causes things to collide when you're standing in it.

Why is this limit in place? it makes no sense, none at all, just like the waypoint limit it only hampers the mappers ability to create large and detailed maps.

"this bring loads of possibilities.."

Not really, unless you've got fraps and want to show your friends some trippin' mad sh*t, I tried messing around with the limit earlier today, I don't know if it has anything to do with the amount of sceneries on the map but the effects I got ranged from simply not seeing sceneries to being teleported through every part of the map in a millisecond and finally just getting access violations.

all of that is known, the waypoint limit is rarely a problem...

Is there anyway you can bypass this scenery limit or am I going to have to wait for the next version of soldat before I can finish my map?

Maybe you could try placing the scenery a bit more...appropriately, sparingly? 500 sceneries should be more than enough for a map, unless that map is so huge it's too large to play, or so incredibly packed with sceneries that it won't paly well online or on certain peoples systems.

We've known about the 500 scenery limit for quite some time...that's why some of the map makers tell you how many of those 500 sceneries you've already placed. I'd love to be able to place more as well, but I've also learned to make the sceneries really pull their weight in terms of placement.

Theres a limit for collidors as well. :(
My Htf_Futile kept getting an "access violation" because I had so many crates xD

And my Inf_Fiasco I ran outta sceneries pretty quick, because I was making a full-blown forest.

And by the way, if you play a level that gets an "access violation" some pretty funky [CENSORED] happens. Once the whole level went into wireframe while I was playing :0

Yup if you do too many coliders,
you won't even get to start the map.
If you must add some much scenery, try combining it
(2v1 or so), just like in ctf_gangwars.

GODAMMIT!

There is no way, none at all, that I can decrease the amount of sceneries in Badlands without losing the maps quality and atmosphere.

Don't trust me? Have a look for yourself:

If I place the sceneries more "appropriately" I won't be able to obtain the quality I'm aiming for, I really doubt the map is too large, it isn't packed with sceneries as it is and I've never experienced lag because of too many sceneries.

If you're going to start screaming goddamnit over a map, then it's hardly worth discussing. I'll look at your map when I get on a better comp in a few hours, but I still dount it's worth getting upset over. It's not about trust, it's a matter of opinion and experience.

I guess this is a bit big...
You're are never gonna get such a mass of people to
to be fully enjoyable.
And you've got quite a few polybugs at the spawns and the bottom route.

After looking over your map in polyworks and playing it a bit, I go by my original statement even more. That map is huge...way too much open space in the lower portion of the map. Takes half a day jsut to get to the other side, and that will really kill gameplay. Half of the map lacks any atmosphere at all since you already used up the sceneries on the top half. Keeping the three long islands with all the scenery and making a small route with the tunnels you already have would be a better route imo.

Yeah, the top half of Badlands totally rocks, but the "island hopping" in the lower half absolutely sucks IMO.

Just have the top part, add some tunnels to it and wallah! A totally awesome map! :D

Could you tell me what bugs you're talking about, is it the watchtowers and bridge?

Really, I thought the whole Island hopping idea would be popular.

*Tosses that idea in the trash bin*

Unless you minisurf it's impossible to get up from the bottom to the islands, the idea was for all the noobs to fall down and kill each other in the subterranian swamp. But the whole island idea has been scrapped already so whatev'.
