how can we test it if theres no link? and by putting my face all into the screen to see the little thumbnail, I can tell it looks pretty sweet :D

If you want to drastically reduce the size of a bmp file, you can, providing you know your way around a image-editor like Jasc's Paint Shop Pro. I won't go into holding-hands detail though.


1. Load the bmp into the programme, then save it as a .gif file. Optimize the .gif before saving to determine the max amount of colours used; experiment with this to find a mix between image quality and size.

2. Load the gif image into the programme, then save it as a BMP file again. Optimize the BMP file to 'RLE', or 'Run Length Encoding' . This process will cut the image down by a possible 4/5th's or more, depending on the complexity of the image.



By doing this, I managed to get this map.....

..down from 66mb's, to 1mb. Map's bigger than ctf_run, yet 'completely' covered in custom scenery. More a feat in map-engineering than a map that's designed for playability though :|

i will buy 500 of those maps right now :P it looks good, could be for an exclusive clan so that only peopel who downloaded before hand can play it :P. great screeny

or try .tga file type.

It is supported by soldat, and is much smaller.


EDIT:

Hmm...
I figured this one out by looking at the texture file...
Also look for a missing poly (it's buggy ingame) at the
right part (middle )

I love the maps. PW will have wypt. support in the next version but there's no point if you can't work 'em in MM or MM+ as they'll be the exact same (just with more features; that's all).

i DIDN'T make the Arena3 map, so i cannot take any of the credit for that.
i did make ctf_darktranq though.

Basically i took a screenshot of the map polys for arena3 and then made the image to fit.
For ctf_darktranq i simply made the image first then built polys over it.

Shouldnt there already be waypoints for arena3? seeing its one of the default maps that comes with soldat as far as i know...
