I dont have WMM, so I tried downloading it. Apparently I'm supposed to get it from Windows Updates, but its not doing anything. So i tried getting it from Download.com, and I got it. However, whenever I tried importing any media, it would crash, saying it encountered an unexpected error.

Does anyone know where else I can download WMM, or if there is a free alternative to it that I can use?

Try Sony Vegas Movie Studio 4.0 ... you just have to load the Trial Version and cr*ck it! It's really good, with great Video FX and transitions!

Find Windows Movie Maker 2 on a file sharing cilent. You don't even need to install Service Pack 2.

WMM sucks, get vegas or adobe or something. I'll send you the 700$ if you can't afford it.

I kinda like wmm, its simple and it has everything you need for a simple soldat movie. I made my first movie yesterday (nothing special). If you like you can look at it here:
