Firstly, why when playing Infiltration, do the opposite team seam to appear out of nowhere most of the times.

And secondly, what is this pinging thing and why do I get ping kicked? I'm on a 512k ADSL by the way.

You were playing on a realistic mode server. Read the manual for more info.

Basically, the lower the ping, the better. If you have a high ping, the time it takes to send something to the server and back is longer.
Just try to play on servers with a low ping.
